I'm somewhat new to ford and I know they had an AOD but is the tranny in my 2000 P71 something else or is it still an AOD tranny?

It's in the AOD family. Yours differs from an older AOD transmission in that it has all electronic controls instead of hydraulic. The model name is a 4r70w.
