It need some work. lower the radiator, notch the hood, and notch the rad support. that is a 4" intake pipe.

We did almost the same thing with my brothers 98 vic. we used 3" and only had to mod the support about a 1.5". i'll see if i can find it.

Very cool, I'm really liking the attention to detail and how frickin clean it is.

Re: Nthe11s Build Pic's - 08/07/09 09:39 AM

So with your turbo manifold you just modified a stock manifold?
Posted by: 02fastvic

Re: Nthe11s Build Pic's - 08/07/09 10:11 AM

yea im still running that 60mm.. And "hotrodjcc" i think me and Rich both just used the stock manifolds with no mods and just made a y pipe to feed the turbo!

yes, well what i did is check a few different manifolds. thunderbrid,vic's,f150's etc... and found the Thunderbrid's have a better flow with there manifolds then i cut off the end and welded V-bands in place. the factroy flanges leak when going above 12lbs(9/10 times) turbo's don't like exhaust leaks.

Re: Nthe11s Build Pic's - 08/07/09 11:01 AM

thats a pretty good idea rich..Im actually working on a different setup on mine. Im taking equal length headers from BBK and fliping them backwards so they face the front end of the car and cutting the flanges off and welding 3" v bands like you did. I think it will look sick :)... me and you need to meet up sometime since we both live in FL lol

Re: Nthe11s Build Pic's - 08/07/09 02:00 PM

My plan was for a positive displacement, but I have grown away from the look of it hanging out after seeing how the max max whipple fits. I'm now leaning towards the turbo kit, just trying to figure how much of a pita it will be to get a manifold fabbed up.
02fastvic, your y pipe is running under the k member or between the k and the engine?
Posted by: hotrodjcc

Re: Nthe11s Build Pic's - 08/07/09 02:02 PM

I've even toyed wit hthe idea of running a single turbo and using the lightning lower manifold and getting a sheet metal upper and perhaps run the liquid to air intercooling system.

Re: Nthe11s Build Pic's - 08/07/09 02:13 PM

my feed pipe is running under the k member..so is my down pipe!

Re: Nthe11s Build Pic's - 08/07/09 02:23 PM

No problems with being so low? I'd like to see more fitament photos from yours and Rich's car. All the manifolds I see for stangs are requiring an aftermarket K member. Also I'm having a 5.4 engine which will be a few inches wider.
Sorry Rich not trying to hijack you, just admiring your photos and set up

Re: Nthe11s Build Pic's - 08/07/09 06:17 PM

02fastvic: are you plaining or did you remove the A/C? if you flip the manifolds you may have to remove the A/C. also i forgot were i read it but they say not to run equal length headers. that is why i sold mine. yeah, we should meet up. i'll be in tampa in three or four weeks. i'll let you know.

Hotrodjcc: it not that big of a pita. just need to fine a good welder. one of the hardest thing was fitting the 4" down pipe. lol. here are a few larger pic of the manifolds and crossmember.

Well i already got the headers..I would like to know why not to use them. anyways i havent started it yet.. just been tearing it apart for it..i looked at it and one line is a fexible hose for the most part so i can bend that out the way. the other lays right in front of the opening of the header flange and is a hard line..ill have to figure out something for that one :(.. And rich those flex pipes are known for leaking even if there new..I worked at a exhaust shop for 4 years and thats 90% of what we did..It really seems like you wouldnt need them

yeah, i was told the same thing so i have been checking it. if it does then i will change it. Thank you Rich

Oh ok I see you both seem to have the same type of routing. I was under the impression you had cut the front of the passenger side manifold off. I have seen a hotside kit that looks to route differently take a peek http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-6-Musta...sQ5fAccessories
