Feelings on using Ford Parts?

Feelings on using Ford Parts? - 06/15/21 02:28 PM

Just wondering from people with more experience in Ford & Crown Vic's

I have a 09 P7B, are there any places where it's ok (or better) to use non OEM parts for routine maintenance, like Oil filters, Trans Fluid and stuff like that? Or am I best just using all the ford motorcraft stuff? Honestly the price doesn't bother me at all, I'm just more curious if there are any brands or specific products where non-OEM manufactures actually create better products that are up to Ford rating.

I would use Ford parts whenever possible. I've proven time and time again that local parts store parts have a lifespan of about 5 years max.

So if you plan to sell the car in a year, put the crappy parts on it and keep the receipt for the warrantee. If you plan to keep it forever, put Ford parts on it. But beware of counterfeit Ford parts - stick with a Ford dealer.

I will usually go with an aftermarket part from a company with a good reputation. It generally comes out to being less expensive than the motorcraft and it lasts for a long time. As far as oil filters, yeah you could use something other than motorcraft. There's a channel on youtube called projectfarm where he tests all sorts of things, air and oil filters being 2 of his videos. He has a pretty scientific approach to it as well, so I view him as a fairly credible source. Give them a watch and see what you think

Use ford oil filters.
For anything else if there's a huge price difference and it's an easy repair aftermarket is OK but if there's not much difference or it's a repair you don't want to do again go Ford.

Yes double thumbs I'd stay away from Fram oil filters.
