Dextrovic Poobah Registered: 07/17/02 Posts: 7848 Loc: �	IPS Corp. makes a line of Weld-On industrial adhesive solvent cements that can work wonders on ABS/acrylic and other compatible plastics. Said cements work just like PVC cement but on various other non-PVC plastics as well. The result is a permanent welding of the plastics together. The same application and fitment procedures apply. That said, check with a local plastics supplier.

Steve83 Poobah Registered: 10/03/04 Posts: 7454 Loc: Memphis, TN 38060, USA, Earth,...	I've never had much luck with either, but the yellow is best suited to bonding vulcanized rubber. Make SURE you follow the instructions on the tube TO THE LETTER or it won't bond right, and you'll just have yellow snotwads hanging off your taillight. That said... I'd recommend NAPA's RightStuff. It's a neoprene foam rubber adhesive that's amazingly effective on just about anything. It goes on thick, so you'll have to use it sparingly, and it gets tacky FAST so practise on something else. If you get some coming out of the seam, just leave it alone until it dries, then clean it up with a razor knife. _________________________ Walk softly & carry a BIG SIX ! ! ! . . .

I found 08002 at a local store in black packaging, and according to the 3M tech sheet, 08001 and 08002 are the "yellow" but every website shows 08001 with "black" on the label. I want the yellow gorilla snot that will permanently bond ABS and PMMA plastic pieces together. _________________________ These aren't the droids you're looking for!

WTF, over? 08008 and 08011 are listed as black adhesive. The 08011 appears to be suited for EPDM rubber while 08008 seems to share the same tech data sheet as 08001/08002... _________________________ These aren't the droids you're looking for!

I used the "Plumbers" Amazing Goop to patch up the plastic base of my portable basketball goal which had hairline cracks and was leaking water. Worked awesome! I hear Goop takes hours to set, while the 3M is almost instant. I know that a soft/flexible adhesive will work better since the OEM/Ford adhesive was a hard epoxy that can crack off upon an impact (been there, done that on the T-bird). A soft but strong adhesive will generally handle vibration and impact a lot better. And I know 3M makes some tacky adhesive... I'll try to buy the 08002 3M weatherstrip stuff and test it out on a pair of CDs (PMMA aka Plexiglass, similar to PMMA lens) to test pull strength. _________________________ These aren't the droids you're looking for!

The first time I applied it, I screwed it up and had to remove all the snot from the tail lamp and the trim. This stuff is STICKY. Solvents only re-activate the adhesive... Goo Gone did a good job of helping me remove it though. After I degreased the surfaces with Denatured alcohol, I went to town again (try #2) and made sure only to use it in the spots that needed it (4 points that the factory also uses). I set the trim and left it there. I used a pair of coaster CD-Rs to try it out (PMMA plastic) and so far they are stuck good. You could try to pry them apart, but the snot turns into a yellow solid after 24 hours. So far, so good. I just hope the brake cleaner I used won't cause the black trim paint to fall off. _________________________ These aren't the droids you're looking for!

Cool, glad it worked for you. I put an emblem on a grille one time with it, it hardly had anyplace to stick and the emblem wasn't made to be put there, but the joker never came off. _________________________ Gone but not forgotten
