06vic Over the Hill Registered: 06/30/06 Posts: 2800 Loc: Phoenix, AZ	That's BS, should that bolt be left exposed like that? I'm going to take a look at mine right now and see what it looks like. Edit: I just looked at mine and it appears to be the same way, but I can't get a good look at it because the slit in the leather isn't big enough to look in there, either way that's dumb to make that like that. How did that happen? _________________________

How did that happen? It is pretty crappy that happened. Not sure why they would leave a bolt like that under a highly used seat with no support in that area. Use is what tore it. Granted my fat ass did not help, but still - I can see it happening to anyone - just might take longer. As said previously, there is no support in that area at all. When you sit in the seat, the leather/cloth pretty much pulls down over that bolt. After a while the stretching will be enough to allow the bolt to pull through or it will eventually tear. Sadly, I see no way in preventing it. Even if I put something over the bolt, the leather will still be stressed because there is nothing under it to prevent stretching. Put your palm in your seat and press down near the middle back. You will see the indintation form. _________________________ 2006 CV LX - Tungsten Silver

I just performed the "seat mod" (removed the bolt and shortened it so as to be flush) before any damage took place. _________________________ 2006 CVPI/Black

06_P71 Rookie Registered: 06/29/06 Posts: 75 Loc: MS	How difficult was the soon to be famous "seat mod"? It was pretty easy with cloth seats. If you recline the seat, it will perhaps make it easier for you to push down the material around that hinge. A 13mm socket removes the bolt. I took off five threads and the whole unthreaded nipple part of the bolt with an angle grinder and then rounded the cut portion a bit. _________________________ 2006 CVPI/Black
