I have a 2004 Grand Marquis LS. I have two problems but I'm just going to mention one for now. I had New Blizzak Revo 1 snow tires on all winter. Ride was not bad at all. Now I just bought new all season tires. Bridgestone Insignia SE 2000. They didn't ride that well. They had a vibration you could see in the wheel. They re-balanced them and the problem still existed. So I wen't to another shop and had Toyo Spectrum's put on. I asked for something with the best ride and this is what was recommended. They are a touring tire from what I can see on them. Well, here's the problem. These have a vibration too. THe faster you go the worse it gets. I drive 55-65 typically and you can really feel the car and wheel shake. I have no idea what is going on. But I'm ready to get rid of the car, it's driving me crazy. I don't want to do this because I'll take a big loss. Can someone please help. Thanks

By the way all 3 sets of tires were mounted on the same factory rims.

vibration does not always come from wheel balance. It will also come from worn out tierods and ends and other front end components. You should go to a front end shop and have them check out all front end components. Or try going to the dealership to get stuff checked out.

The tire and wheel shop should have checked that stuff out when you told them about the vibration but most of the time it is a balncing thing so they are lazy and just rebalance.

I wouldnt think front end parts would be going bad on your 04' that quick. I recommend you check the rotors both sides and make sure nothings is there (little stones, pieces of rust,etc.). These things can make such a slight wobble that you wont hear it unless your going 65-70.
Good luck.
Also how many miles are on your GM

I have 60,000 miles on it. When I got the car I got new brakes and rotors at 30,000. Front shocks were just replaced, one was leaking.

Sounds like a bent rim to me. Maybe an out of balance driveshaft.

It seems wierd being a bent rim to me... How do you indentify that anyway? The previous post: It will also come from worn out tierods and ends and other front end components. You should go to a front end shop and have them check out all front end components. Or try going to the dealership to get stuff checked out. Sounds likely does anyone disagree with that?

I'll second the bent rim. Maybe it was on the back before you got the new rubber, and now its on the front? Did you buy the car used? or did you ever take out a curb or serious pothole? Or maybe the idiot who installed the new tires bent the rim on the tire machine.

It is possible that the original tire place bent one of your rims. Take the car back to the 2nd place, tell them you have vibrations and ask them to be sure and check that the wheels are round before re-balancing the tires.

You may well find that you have just got unlucky and neither of them can balance a wheel!

If you had no problems with the previous wheels then it is very unlikely that the problem was not caused by your tire change.
- Unless, of course, you changed something else at the same time. How recently were the shocks done? It could be a bolt coming loose!

It may be hard to convince the first shop that they did it though. They will pull the whole YOU screwed up and now you're trying to pin it on us deal. Just be prepared to deal with morons.
