Maybe the valve train in the heads is on it's way out? Does the car run fine?

i have an 07 vic lx with the boring oem dual exhaust. i figured it needed straight through mufflers. i removed stock mufflers and cut them open to have a look. it looked like a terrible design. there were many right angle turns. i put straight through borla pro xs's in their place thinking my mpg would increase. I'd be lucky if i'm now getting 1 mpg better. It's probably closer to 0 mpg. if anything were restrictive, it would be the muffler over the "pretzel" bent tailpipe- but it seems that the mufflers are hardly restrictive anyway.
as for putting a dump- i think the drone would be torture. i had straight pipes out the back on my 98 marquis. i couldn't carry on a phone conversation while driving at certain speeds. a dump would be even louder. i'd recommend against it.

P.S. if straight through exhaust has made any improvement in the performance of my '07 i haven't noticed it.

Runs great. Better than I'd normaly expect for a car with 118k on it that gets flogged on a regular basis.

It runs better now than it ever has. The fluttery/gurgly sound has been in the exhaust ever since I had the mufflers replaced with pipe about 4 years and 25k miles ago.

There's a bit of a rattle on cold startup, but I guess that's a common thing with these engines since they have a timing chain instead of a belt and the oil drips away when it sits for a while. The sound goes away after about a minute.

without some type of mufflers on before the dumps = very loud! if you live in BFE you could, hope you don't like your neighbors.

Sounds okay, i noticed that with my fual exhaust conversion it feels so much better, to me it felt like the engine was "breathing" better.
