Mine was 12x worse than that...

The only caution to throw at our cars is we have 4 cats. And with the life of a P71 if its your first time you will want to change the oil right afterwards. Yeah its hot ....TOO BAD You want to remove all that while its still suspended in the oil.

This is of course if you have NOT just put some in your crank case.

I did it last week on mine an didn't even put any in the oil; gained a little bit of mileage, and seems to rev smoother and faster. It was real pretty too!

I do this every couple of months to my old Toyota. Really made a pretty dig difference the first time I did it. Haven't done it to the vic yet, but I will when it's not raining quite as much. but I haven't added any to the oil, I've always done the tank and the intake only.

You all suck... complaining about rain and snow and you can't seafoam the engine? Seafoaming through the brake booster or PCV vac line takes less than 3 minutes once the engine is warm.... Then, you just let it slowly suck 1/3-1/2 the bottle then you quickly shove the hose all the way in and let it suck till it dies out... then turn it off. Let sit for 10-15 minutes and start it up and go for a drive. Okay... let's talk now on why you suck.

I don't want to hear any complaining about rain... or snow. I live in an apartment. It was 25 degrees here yesterday and I pulled a 34K mile old fuel filter from my vic while laying on a cardboard sheet that QUICKLY soaked up the snow/melt mixture... then I seafoamed it late in the evening when it was dark and MUCH colder.... did ya hear any complaints from me about it? NO! It's VERY VERY VERY simple and only takes a couple of minutes... and you get to stand!!!! Right now. Go out. Put on some warm clothing and do it RIGHT NOW. No more excuses... it's worth it. I can't report back on mileage gains but I will say it smoothed out my idle which was a little bit ruff and it revs noticeably smoother and slightly quicker as of today... I ran both through a vac line and through the crankcase.

I also got the oil changed on my way home today after the crankcase seafoam last night (I drive 20mi one way to work... so it had a good 45-50 miles on it when the oil was changed today... long enough to make a difference if anything would have been loosened up). I had them check my brakes for me... turns out my 04 has brand new brakes on it. The guy said he would be surprised if I had more than 5,000 miles on these brakes. Both pads and rotors.

Good info! This should be a sticky. Thanks Josh. Did it in less than 1/2 hour, except for the oil. I'll do it on the next oil change. Lots of smoke though. Almost looked like I cracked a ring or 8.

Exactly, how hard can it be to hydrolock the engine by puring it through the brake booster line? If I just put it in my oil, will that hydrolock it?

just put an ounce and a half into your oil per quarts of oil the car holds. It won't hydrolock your car... trust me. Its a petrolyem and will just burn up eventually.

I did the Seafoam treatment today using the instructions here. Worked great! I poured half the can into the oil, ran it for about 20 miles or so, then sucked the rest up with the PCV valve, started it after 15 minutes and yep... smoke.

Took a few minutes before smoke really started pouring out. Very satisfying to see. And no neighbors came to bug me. I can't wait to see what I've gained from all this trouble.

All in all, this is on the easier things I've had to do to the Vic. Thanks for the detailed write-up, Josh. Totally helped.

Just wait until you change the oil and pay attention to throttle responce, gas mileage, and smooth idle.

Hey, just making sure, your going to change your oil soon right? You don't leave the seafoam in there indefinitely.

Oh yeah, I changed it as soon as the process was complete. Watched the smoke show, took it for a quick spin around the block and then put it on the ramps and changed the oil. It was overdue anyway.

That oil was BLACK too, boy, lemme tell ya...

Okay, thanks, Josh. \:\) Why do people think it will hydrolock their cars, then?
