Hey guys, thought someone might be able to help me out here.

I've got a 97 crown vic. that will not start. I've never had this problem before, and the car was running proper just a couple of hours ago before I parked it and came inside.

Basically, I jumped in the car and went to start it. As I went to crank it, all of the lights in the car went off, including all dash panels, cd player, window/lock function etc, etc. After jiggling the key around a bit, things randomly began flickering on, but would not last. With the car turned off, I hear clicking coming from somewhere originating around/within the dash/steering column. It will go away if I close all doors/draw no power. Not sure what my next step is here.

Tried to jump the car, to no avail. I'm unconvinced this is any sort of battery problem.

Thanks for any help in advance!

man, I believe you should clean up battery terminals. So disconnect them, use sand paper then grease them and reconnect. Let us know how is it work

x2 Sounds like bad/loose connections - at the terminals or any of the grounds.

if you moved the key around, could it be a problem with the ignition switch?
