I have a 94 Merc... what would be the best way for me to get positive traction in it?

Acquire a 28 spline Ford Trac-lok unit and install it.

Along with the rear end rebuild kit.

3 qts of the proper fluid ( 75-90 ?) and friction modifier.

Then burn 'em up !

I'm also interested in this aswell...whats invovled in the install of it? just pull out the spider gears and bolt the trac lok unit to the ring gear?...sorry to hijack

thanks... ima look into dat. do u know of any air intake/MAF upgrades i could do for a 94? everything seems to be for 96 & up

Make sure you can seat 3/8 drive into the fill plug and make sure you can turn it out easily. You really don't wanna do all this and lastly find out you can't fill it back up.


Take off :

Wheels
Brake hardware.

Push in the axles.

Remove C clips inside the carrier.

Pull axles half way out.

Remove Carrier bearing caps. They have to be reinstalled that way. L or R and UP. They must go in the same orientation.

Pull out carrier.

collect ring gear shims.

and bearings.


Roughly that's it.


But to put it lightly your gonna smell like hell and it's not much fun.

If you want a real full length write-up well throw something together later.
