Like does a 1998 work in a 2001 with minor changes?
Reason I ask found a 98 p71 with good transmission that makes a hell of knocking sound coming from under the car between motor and bell housing, but she will still run a 100mph easy! Was trying toblow it up if it would but shes still running. Also have a 01 p71 will that 98 tranny work in the 01?

Also the rear end is popping real bad from the differential in reverse only, jacked it up put it in reverse and you can put your hand on the cover and feel it popping inside there, wondering if the locker is going out? Its the 01 thats doing this also, does not pop in drive only reverse.

Was going to use the 98 as a parts car if the tranny will work, I know the rear end will work.

all should be the same. in 01 the valve body changed. all you will notice is a firmer shift. the 98 still uses a speedo gear like in 01 so your fine. may need to swap your MLPS sensor but thats about it. good luck.
