What year Vic? 95-97 it runs when the A/C or defrost is on. 98-02 it cycles when a certain temp is reached (210 I think) runs constant with A/C or defrost on. 03-up is controlled by the PCM according to engine speed, coolant temp and if A/C or defrost is on (variable speed fan).

If yours comes on just after start up and the HVAC controls in the off position, you may need a new coolant temp sender unit for the fan. Check the connections at the fan too, as sometimes they get loose, or burned up (depending on year)

Check your coolant and make sure it isn't low or empty.

I found that when my coolant tank was close to empty (just a little in the bottom)that my fan ran more than when the coolant tank was filled to spec.

Plus depending on the position of the A/C switch will turn the fan on. MAX A/C, MORM A/C, MIX, and DEFROST will turn it on in a 98+ Vic. Any questions consult your Owner's Manual.
