That sounds pretty nasty. Have you read this?

I wouldn't rev it up much until you ID the source of that knocking.

If you're gonna make an assertive post with bold text like that, try to spell "recirculation" correctly.

And when unburned junk comes back into the intake thru the EGR valve, that's still the EGR delivering that residue (as you quoted me saying), so my statement is still accurate. The bad rings/seals didn't put the residue in the intake; the EGR did. But since none of us knows that his engine (or mine) has bad rings, the discussion is moot - EGR will cause that, even with good rings & seals.

I've seen build-up like that in engines that never or rarely had their oil changed. I wonder what it looks like under the valve covers.

My oil also gets changed every 3Kmi with M1 & a MotorCraft filter, and I still had that buildup in the intake.

And when you realize your position is indefensable, ignore the big paragraph explaining why. Just complain about the breif note preceding it.

Yeah oil consumption and/or over-rich mixture.

NOT uncommon on higher mileage engines.

It took many MANY miles to accumulate like that too, it's not a rapidly developing problem.

Some engines do this even when running normally, ever see used IMRC's out of a 4.6 DOHC from a Mark VIII?

Oil mist just condenses on them, and slowly accumulates.

Something inside the bellhousing. Have you (or anyone else) ever revved the engine above 4500RPM? If so, you may have ballooned the TC.

i think, because i was on the freeway and the car was struggling
to go past the 50 mph mark. eventually it go to sixty or so.

So I might need a new TC? or something might of got'n loose?
