I can't seem to figure out how to change the sidemarker... Space is real tight. Anyone change the bulbs before?

I assume you mean the front sidemarker? If I remember correctly, lift your hood, remove the plastic shroud forward of the radiator. Behind, and to the outside of the headlight coming in from the side, you will see a 10 mm nut, take this off, then remove the small screw at the rear of the lens, and the lens should come out. Change the bulb, then reinstall. Might be easier this way.

I can't figure out how to get the nut off hardly any room... It's not a 10mm either.

It's an 11 MM and you need an extension. I usually use a 3/8 ratchet and you will only get about 3-4 clicks when you turn it, so just loosen it with the ratchet and then remove the ratchet from the extension and loosen it the rest by hand with the extension.
You will understand what i mean when you try it. Then once you remove that bolt, remove the Phillips head screw that is on the outside of the side marker.

Might as well do the "flashing sidemarker mod" as long as you are in there, since the stock sidemarkers DO NOT flash. Here's a link to the Body of Knowledge article written by AKA_Rizzo, https://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1762831#Post1762831it even gives directions for removing the sidemarker.

I've actually successfully changed the sidemarker bulbs while only removing the front headlights. space is really tight, but if you have smallish hands you can do it

Good job! I usually wind up having to remove the rear headlamps... you know I was wondering where those rear healamps were and where to fill my headlight fluid.
