I'm sure this has been answered and asked before, but I can't find anything so far.
I am looking for ways to increase the power and acceleration of my 2003 GMQ, especially as I'm running up the interstate as it climbs to 10,000 feet or whatever the pass is outside Denver. But I also don't have a lot of money. I'd like to keep things as efficient as possible but understand that more power probably equals more fuel burn.
Could anyone offer some suggestions about what I might be able to do now with less money and wrenching and maybe work up to? Twin tail pipes? some sort of air filter change? Etc.
Thank you so much.

I would start with the dual exhuast upgrade
Then possibly the 04 airbox 80mm MAF zip tube upgrade with a tune.
Those would net you the best bang for the buck without completely blowing out your wallet.

Rear end gears are pretty cheap and make a huge difference if you don't mind a sacrifice in mpg.

Oh come on man. You got no lady fingers, fuzz buttles, snicker bombs, church burners, finger blasters, gut busters, zippity do das, or crap flappers? No, I don't. You're gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker donts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser?

I put in a k&n air filter, drilled a couple extra holes in the air box and put on the f250 superduty throttle body, I know there is no real h.p. gains but the throttle responce is much better with no loss of mpg. and a total cost of $65.00 if you want more info send me a personal message

Hey guys,
Thank you so much for the help. I appreciate the help (sorry for the late grattitude.) I might look into those three in a few months.
Supposing I was to do those three things, what else might be doable without huge amounts of wrenching or outlay of expense?
Thanks again.

if you do what almond suggested if you can change oil u should be able to handle that
the gear swap is somthing you would what to have a pro do but imo its the best bang for you buck when it comes to getting these tanks moving
the mzt you can handle other than the tune that you have to buy of course
the exhaust is another one i would suggest letting a pro handle
but all of these are great ideas and should be done asap and you will think you have a different car

well if you just go with a Walker replacement dual exhaust setup that is something you can do on your own in a day with just hand tools. just don't forget the hangers for the driver side too.

What do I need exactly for my 2003 Grand Marquis if I want to do the new air box? Could you give me part numbers if anyone has them handy? I think this would be the easiest and most straight forward mod for me but so far I'm confused about the apart numbers I'd need. Hopeing someone can straighten me out.
Thank you.

are you talking the 04 cvpi box because then you will also need a tune with the new maf thats where all the power and performance come from

Yes, I understand that I need the airbox, the "zip tube" a MAF and a tune. I found something but there were a lot of references to later models and not so much 2003 models. So if baring finding one used (and I'm not even sure which years I could look at) what would I need to tell the parts dealer that I need?
Can I just say I want the box, tube and MAF from a 2004+ or something?
Can you recommend a source from the tune?

ya i bought my set up used i asked for a 2004 cvpi airbox maf assembly and zip tube then as far as the tune if you want to do mail order http://www.blueovalchips.com/is one of the site sponsors and most mail order people go with him other wise you can se if there is a dyno tuning shop close to your location and get the tune that way

Thanks for all the help. I went with BOC and got the components for the MZT and a new tune. Lonnie is really helpful, and I look forward to both the arrival of the MZT parts, and more upgrades in the future.

Yes, I've decided to do the MZT, 3.73, limited slip, torque converter, Jmod and dual exhaust. Will take a bit of time, but should help get the car moving.
