what type of oil you use?
dino oil i would do six months or 3000 miles, whichever comes sooner.
synthetic i would do 5000 miles, pushing time past 6 months i dont know how good that would be

3,000-mile oil changes are a thing of the past. Modern oils are so far superior to those of the '80s that 5,000 miles is now the defacto standard for conventional oil.

In 2004 Ford changed the engines to a 6 qt crankcase & a 5000 mile change interval. I found out when I traded my 1999 CVLX for the 04 Sport. Went to Wally World, bought 5 qts of Mobile 1 for the first change & found out we now have a 6 qt crankcase. The kid on the lube rack here at Ford still tries to get everyone to change at 3000 (the owner's schedule) Just add 2k more to his # & go for it.

This, except for the jungle heat part. The last time I ran Mobil 1 to 7000 (well okay 6800), it came out looking pretty clean, about how motorcraft looks at 5k.

I usually change mine every 4,000 miles though with the filter though.

In 2004 Ford changed the engines to a 6 qt crankcase & a 5000 mile change interval. Actually the six qt pans began in '03, when the chassis were updated... That's funny because my 04 MGM takes 7 qts to fill. I usually change mine every 4,000 miles though with the filter though.
Likely you have the wrong dipstick or tube installed, Ford says six qt with filter begnning in '03, my mom's '03 and my '07 are dead on full with six... I have the Mobil 1 Extended Performance(supposedly good for 15K mi)in my '98 MGM, it's now on a 10-12K mi or one year change diet... The Marauder has around 1500 mi and 10 months on it's Mobil 1 0w-40, at this rate I may change in the fall of '12... The '07 MGM is circulating Castrol Syntec Blend, and will go around 4500mi & eight or nine months before it's changed... No need to worry much about time unless you do short tripping that never lets the oil reach operating temp...

You still need to change the oil every 6 months or so regardless of miles unless the car is STORED. So go out splurge $30 on a Jug of oil and a filter and give the Marauder a oil change this weekend!!

In reading the oil analysis over on BITOG, unless the vehicle is short tripped(which I don't)time is a minor factor, as I stated the Marauder may see a oil change in '12...
The previous owner had not changed the oil in my '98 in about three years and 3500 mi(no doubt was over due), but they only used Mobil 1 and that engine is still like new, has zero sludge...
