what kills stock trannys is the slow shift at wot.

the j-mod will fix this problem but with the mods you listed you will have to get a more appropriate torque converter, gears and better cooling system to run a higher stall converter

So there is already a few threads floating around pertaining to the manual transmission conversion (T45, TR3650, T56 ect)

These threads are very helpful and most of the information is out there already for you guys.

One thing I don't really see specifics on is the wiring changes that need to be made. The clutch safety switch and reverse lights are the first things that come to mind.

There's tons of information on the mechanical parts but nothing on wiring so here it is.

I've already done all the wiring on my car so I'll share some information with you.

Here's the first thing... I highly recommend you guys go out and buy the Ford Motor Company wiring diagram book for your specific model year panther. They are available on eBay for not a lot of money (I bought mine in perfect shape for $10.00) and anyone who's done some extensive wiring knows they are worth ten times that.

Note: this information is accurate for the wiring I performed on my 2001 CVPI. I do not believe Ford changed much as far as these wire colors go but again, I reccomend you get the correct book for your car.

Here is the MLPS connector face you will have on your transmission. Pins 1,8 and 7 are shaded because they are not used.

We need (4) wires from this connector to achieve a functional CSS and working reverse lights.

If you look at the connector face the same way as the photo, we need the (4) bottom wires. Pins 9,10,11 and 12

• Pin 9: (VT/OG) Power, Hot in run
• Pin 10: (RD/LB) Starter control
• Pin 11: (BK/VT) Reversing lamps
• Pin 12: (WH/PK) Starter control

Clutch safety switch:

Take pins 10 and 12 and run them to your CSS wires. Simple as that. I chose to extend the wires and run them right up through where my shifter is, underneath the carpet and over to my pedals.

The SN95 CSS I used had GN and RD/GN wires. It doesn't matter which you connect to the pins. It functions the same no matter what. Your just completing a loop.

Reverse lamps:

This is easy also. Take pins 9 and 11 and those are for your reverse lamps. You may have to extend the wires a tiny bit for this but not very far. I reccomend 16GA wire for these two tasks. Again, it does not matter which wire you connect to the poles on the reverse lamp switch.

And here's where you can get the correct connector pigtail for the reverse lamps:Click here <<

Speed sensor:

I'd also like to address this. The speed sensor on the manual transmissions will physically plug into your stock connector but it puts out many more pulses per rotation than my PCM is expecting so the speedometer reads very high.

This can be corrected with a speed-cal and I'll cover that wiring when I have the time.

Good to know ,ill sure take a look at my finances smile , i dont mind paying you a nice price for this , as i know it will be done right with you and everything will work perfectly.
I was wondering ,instead of grinding the crossmember ,can i use a mustang crossmember instead ?

What about a Mustang ECU from a manual Mustang instead of needing a tune? biggrin

It's good to know the SN95 colors are different.

The New Edge cars have the WH/PK and R/LB like the stock Panther should have.
