I have a 2006 P71 and have recently found that when I start the car sometimes the wipers will start once and then park themselves. Just today as I used the car in the rain i turned my wipers on and went from point A to point B and when I was ready turn the car off and shut the wipers down the wipers wouldn't park in the off position. While they were in the off position the wipers would act as if set in intermittent. So my question is this. What do you think I should replace? The Multi-Function Switch or the Wiper Motor? I tend to wanna go with the cheaper option but would much rather have the problem go away then still be prevalent after replacing a part any said part. I've read a few posts that say replace the motor and or the MFS, but would prefer to get this right the first time. Any input would be great, thanks.

You need a new wiper motor. I had exactly the same problem on my 03.

My vote is a motor too, my Grandmas Town-Car had similar symptoms last June.

Like others said it's in the motor. I guess that was never updated. There is a pin that wears in it's bore and will not seat to let the wipers park. Sometimes they get stuck and go straight up instead of just not parking. Happened on my 96 and every once in a while I'll see a cab driving around like that.
