Hi,

Seeing that this is your second post I will just make a wild guess?

Did you just get the car within the past 6 months?

Perhaps resetting your transmission to get it off of the previous driving style will help?

Unless you have owned the car a while and this is something that is new to you?

If so, then not sure what to tell you..

There are threads you can find easy on resetting your transmission. Your transmission learns how you drive and adapts, if your last drivers where LEO's then it might want to "GO" while you now want to "cruise" and that,,, "might" be what ya are noticing?

Good Luck!

yes ive had that car for about a month now i was just thinking that the over drive kicks in somewhere 45-55 mph i never knew trannys can do that but then again i have never had a car this new sadly so it can learn how you drive that's weird considering that most police cars are driven by 1000s of people but mine belong to the fire chief he only got to use it the title had the city then his name underneath the city it was registered to

Under light throttle OD usually occurs at about 40, and should be fairly gentle, but noticeable. If yours is engaging "hard", as you say, then there may be some other problem.

One other thought: dunno if this will help.

I just acquired the Grand Marquis in my sig last week. I noticed it occasionally had what I would call a harsh engagement of OD, not like the typical shudder, but more like a momentary "br-r-r-p". Although the ATF appeared clean, not knowing the maintenance history I did a pan-drop, filter change, and drain plug install. Immediately after that, it did the br-r-r-p thing once more, but since then it's been fine. I did a second drain & fill yesterday and the transmission shifts like new.

My point is that even though the fluid "appears" OK, the additive pack can be depleted and a simple refresh may be all that's needed.

maby i should have the fluid and filter changed I am not a tranny expert at all i have read that having it "flushed" could be bad but just changing the fluid and filter without having it hooked to any machine should be alright

to reset the tranny i just unplug the battery right?

thank you
