I have my two weeks of vacation lined up, so tomorrow starts this project... One OBX Stainless headers & exhaust kit: Meets my 2003 Crown Vic Sport: Along with new converters, O2 sensors, hardware, etc... I'll be tearing into it tomorrow, starting with getting the car up in the air and completely removing the stock exhaust. After that the thrash session can begin to remove the factory manifolds... Or what's left of them. Likely in chunks. That'll probably be at least a couple days effort alone. Then we can put the cool new shiney stuff back on. Check back, I'll be posting updates...

I will be watching this thread worse then a stalker
Edit: Anyone know if there's anywhere that sells just the headers from this kit? Because it seems like they'll be within the price range I'd be more ok with for headers which my car crys for

Since you're already supercharged, it should really wake your car up!

Yeah the kooks are like $800-900 I think and another set of headers I was looking at was for over $1k (stainless works?)
I saw the OBX kit online for $600 I think was the lowest but my exhaust system is nice as it is beside the stock manifolds which are most likely super restrictive for my setup. So I just need the headers portion of it basically and if I can buy just the headers that means more $ to be spent on other go fast goodies. But I can always buy the set then try and sell everything else without the headers to someone who wants a nice exhaust system

All righty guys... Today I installed a jackstand lift kit under the car and removed the new starter I just installed about three months ago and the old exhaust. Good riddance too, it had really seen it's better days, and I was getting an intermittent P0156 left rear O2 sensor code. It's had a BAD case of the usual manifold exhaust leak, to the point you could smell it when parked, and the rest was so-so too. The entire exhaust will be custom behind the headers when I'm done, and as one-piece as me and my welder can get it Not a bad first days work, considering I never started until 2:00 pm. I work nights you know, and have a bad habit of being a total night-owl. The only downside is it makes it tough to get anything done that needs daylight. As you can see from the next several shots, the manifolds are in typical condition... TERRIBLE! It's hard to even identify the hardware anymore... AND as seems to always happen, that drivers side rear bottom stud is already broken, with the nut long since departed. Driver's side top... and passengers side underside... and drivers lower, showing the missing nut... I'm really not planning on being able to unbolt that rusted hardware, but I'm going to try before I proceed to the grind-it-off method. We'll see what tomorrow brings!

It'll be worth it! Good Luck! I gave myself that amount of time because A) I know myself! I'm not the fastest wrench in the world, mostly because I'm too picky... and B) Look at the condition of the manifolds and hardware later in this thread... I really have NO IDEA at this point exactly what kind of a nightmare this is going to turn into, but I don't want to be pushed for time at all.

But I can always buy the set then try and sell everything else without the headers to someone who wants a nice exhaust system Yes the Kooks stainless ones are in the $800 - $900 range, I have a set on my '93 Mark VIII. Absolute top-quality product! I just couldn't stand the thought of spending that much again, so I went with the e-bay OBX set-up. It was $675 including shipping, etc... and it comes with those seamless mufflers, the center H-pipe, the head pipes and hardware, etc. I didn't too much care about it not including tail pipes, because I'm not fond of them to begin with. My system is probably going to exit in front of the rear wheels, or just have downspouts ahead of the differential... I still have to make up my mind about that, depending too on how far aft the system ends up when I'm done. I can honestly say the quality between the Kooks brand and the OBX ones is 90% equal. The welding on the OBX headers is superb, and the flanges are nice and thick. The only difference I could identify was that the gauge of the tubing seemed a notch thinner. I really think that's about it.
