On top of the left valve cover (drivers side)there is a black plastic thing that looks like a PCV valve that is not connected. It is drawing vacuum because when I put my finger over it,it makes a suction sound when I remove it.Where should this be connected at? If it goes to the plastic engine cover I am missing that part so what should I do with it? Also the check engine light comes on after the engine starts. Thanks

If this fitting is toward the firewall, then it connects to the intake tract. There should also be a fitting or a hole in the intake tract and these two connect together. If that hose is missing, you have unmetered air going into the throttle body and that's the reason for your CEL.

there should be a hose from there to the port on the intake tube that is next to the hose that goes to the IAC (the one that is connected still). if its disconnected/missing then not only do you have a vacuum leak, then you are getting unmetered/unfiltered air in thru the hole in the zip tube.

There's a tube that connects that valve cover to the second hole on the backside of the air intake tube.

That connects to the intake tube like mentioned above. That's the intake side of the PCV. The return is on the passenger side and connects to the plenum.

OK, I went out and looked and I see where it goes now. Right next to the other tube. There are several parts I need for this car. Is there a swap meet section on this site? Is this tube only on the police interceptor engine?

nope, its on all Panthers. There is no difference between the police interceptor engine and a regular CV/GMQ/TC engine. Power difference comes from a more aggressive tune and dual exhausts.

Like posted above, that tube supplies air into the block and the PCV valve on the other valve cover sucks it back out creating a closed circulation for crank case pressures.

OK, Thanks everyone for the info. Sounds like we don't want to be driving without the tube. I'll have to get one soon.
