Just got a set of 17" steel interceptor wheel this afternoon and now I'm looking to buy some tires. I read on the forum that I could run 255/50R17 on all four corners with these rims with no rubbing or clearance issues ? Anybody running this set up and your likes or dislikes ?
Thanks again,
Bill Miller

I think the rims are too skinny. They're only 7" wide I believe. I wouldn't go over the 235 wide the p71's spec'd.

The stock 17" steelie is 17x7 1/2".
Depending on which online resource you look at, a 255 width tire may be ok on a 7 1/2" wheel

That's the widest I'd go though.

I have 255/50ZR17 Nitto NT555s on each of my 17" LX Sport wheels. They look awesome, Tire store didn't even argue or make a fuss about it. just said sign here acknowledging these aren't stock sized tires and we are not responsible for installing these on your car.

The Nt555s handle great, but with the rim not being wider, the sidewall flexes more and you give up a little of your handling.

I am NOT running these on any 7 inch wide rims, but this is the size I am looking at running on the rear of my Mark VIII on 17x9 rims.

255 wide is nearly perfect on the 9 inch wide rims, I am currently running 255/45 17s on the rear and I love the look and how they handle. I think it might be a little wide on 7~7 1/2 wide rims, but not overly so. I am moving the 255/45 17 to the front to replace the current 245/45 17s I am running (too small for the car) which are nearly too narrow for the wheels, but the tire shops have never had any problems mounting them

I'm running a 275-50-17 on an 8 inch rim. A 255-50-17 should be fine on a 7 inch rim.

TireRack says 255/50 are to be used on 7-9" wheels so you should be ok.

Thanks, got it! I read some where here in the forums that the 09-11 lx Vic's tire size is 225/60/17 is that true? Will I have any issues if I go with that size tire?
