Wash/wax and found some rust spots on the driver's side rear door near the bottom that I'll need to address before they rust through.

Oh, and now it is raining on it in my driveway :-(

So someone else who's noticed the bottom inner doors are starting to rust.

I think all Fords rust there. My 97 Vic and my dad's 05 F150 both did. Luckily my 08 doesn't have that rust...yet.

It was the only spot on the Merc to have any rust. And the only spot(s) on the Town Car NOT to have rust. go figure.

Yesterday: woke up at 6am, couldn't sleep, so I started detailing the car in anticipation for Power Tour. Used some Nevr-Dull on the exhaust tips - couldn't believe how good it looked. Later that day, ended up 'playing' on the freeway, cooking out with some Subaru pals, and heading home.

Good times. mercury

Vacuumed some more broken glass out of it.

Bypassed the EGR cooler. It leaked, and the EGR doesn't work anyway. Everyone I have talked to says it has no ill-effects.

Today I went down to the exhaust shop and had a pair of glasspack mufflers installed on the 05. It's definitely going to get more work, as soon as I find the right shop *cough* *cough*.

Picked up more parts for it. And back to the UPS place again tomorrow to do the same.

I should really be driving it more.

Got my tune in the email the other day.

So I finally, today, got around to filling up with 91 octane.

Then swapped the P71 air box that I had laying around forever.

Then, after wanting a tune for since I got the car, I flashed the tune to the car.

Then I drove it around. I was really surprised. The biggest surprise is what I assume people call drive-ability. My throttle response is right there. It's especially good if I'm rolling with the O/D off already.

It feels like it likely has more top end. That's hard to say considering adding power to these cars is like dumping a 50 gallon drum into a pool.

It really seems like it kicks down a lot less. I really like that. I hate hitting the gas on the highway because it drops O/D so fast. Now it seems like I'm half way into the throttle before it kicks down at 75mph. I don't know if that's a result of programming or having more power.
