Coolant leak on newer 2005 intake manifold

Hi, I have a 2005 CV just 100k miles with coolant leaking under the thermostat housing
on the intake manifold. I had the same problem on my 98 lx .
I want to know if the Dorman intake is any good? It is much cheaper.
or can i fix the OE. seems like its leaking where the plastic meats the aluminium. has anyone had problems with these newer manifolds. I thoought they fixed this problem with this newer manifold.

I would use the FRPP intake below for 239$. Some have not had good results with PI Dorman. I'm sure you have checked the thermostat gasket to rule it out along with upper radiator hose connection at housing. JMO http://www.adtr.net/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_70&product_id=158

Yep stick with the Ford intake and skip the Dorman. While it will work you are better off with the Ford part in this case. Here is the same part on Amazon a bit cheaper too. http://www.amazon.com/Ford-Racing-M9424P...Ford+Racing+4.6

Im a Ford racing parts dealer here and just got a note from Ford saying the FRPP PI manifold (great item) is on Back order from FRPP for the near future. You might want to stock up while they are still available.

The FRPP intake was just selling off Production stock. Now that the 4.6 is dead, the parts are drying up. Most of the time, you can fix the leak on the updated type Ford intake You can see on this picture the aluminum crossover corrodes and causes leaks against the plastic intake, note the white line between the plastic and aluminum  Read here https://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2488212

[/quote]The Manifold was on a list of items that Ford sent me via E-mail that would be delayed or on National back-order due to to a parts shortage of items in the intake kit...Ford said the Intake would NOT be discontinued.

That's what I think mine is doing. What do I need to fix the one I have? A gasket set? Thank you for mentioning that! A new intake. Once the plastic supporting the seals gives up like in Pier's pictures, the intake is as good as dead. I had a Dorman fail in the same way on my Townie last summer.

Whats sad is how many times they have redesigned the intake and still has problems. Sure seems like a opportunity for some aftermarket company to get it right and make some money in the process. argh

Sure seems like a opportunity for some aftermarket company to get it right and make some money in the process. argh True. Mine was leaking a little when I got the car. Separated the water crossover from the manifold and repaired the plastic with Acraglas. Used a new manifold gasket to seal against the engine, and an old style flat gasket to seal the crossover to the repaired plastic part. After 6 months and several thousand miles, no leaks. Will see how long it lasts.

When I got my 98' I was looking around and seeing how I could replace my intake with the newer style one. After a week of looking after I got the car I realized that the previous owner had already swapped out the intake. It never gave me any issues either, not even when I traded it off.
