So I had one in high school and totaled it my first year of college. So I got this because I have no will power. The plan is to do with it what I never had the chance to get done the first time around.
460
Od transmission
Sweet wheels
And then lots of burnouts which this 351 automatic with 2.75 gears cannot do.

Congrats! When I was growing up my dad had restored his 1965 Galaxy 500 2 door hardtop 390ci with a 4 speed manual that he had back in college. It was going to be my first car but it was totaled out by a drunk driver pulled out in front of him when I was 12 or 13.

Awesome cars though, you'll most definitely have a good time with it. I have a galaxy 500 emblem if you're in need!

If remainder of car is as good, you stole it...

About a 100 years ago I had green one that was 302 & three on tree... Seen two others that were stick shift both had 351(was no 4-speed option in '70, dropped after '69)...

With a good set of modern heads, intake, cam etc, plus a free flowing exhaust, that 351 would embarrass the stock 429 that was top dog option in those...

I always liked that yellow color on '69 and '70 Fords. I had a bronze '68 XL convertible back when it was just another schittbox. It had a beat 302, and was kind of a slug. It had a comfy ride, and totally numb steering. I guess it was "comfortably numb." I wish I had been.

The yellow is growing on me but when repaint time comes I plan to go with dark jade green metallic. It was the color of my first car and I'd like to try painting a metallic color.

The car is solid. Just the sheet metal at the door corners and quarters needs work which is pretty easy.

351 can run strong but 100 more cubes makes just as much with a lot less effort. And a 460 is on the list of must build engines. For me that is.

My dad had a 69 Galaxie Convertible. Same color, with 32K original miles. It was his aunts car since brand new.. Finally ended up selling it this spring due to loosing storage space for it.

Nice!

My brother had a sports roof version for about a year then traded up to an XL. Both were 390 cars and went like stink.

Yeah they stunk all right...

In '69, '70 & '71 only factory induction on the full size Ford 390 option were 2bbl carbs, single exhaust and a "advertised" 265Hp, that in real world was no more than 200... Can you say dog, dog, dog??? I say this being a FE lover(continually owned at least one since 1969) so I've been there, done that...

Stock for stock the lighter 250Hp 351W would run with the 390 and manually shifting the automatic, likely beat it... Reason being the 351 could spin easily to 6000 RPM, those 390 hit a brick wall at 5100 RPMs due to the heavy/non performance valve train(basically had a built in rev limiter)..

With 428CJ heads, intake, cam etc one could be made to run, but stock were mostly a joke...

I have only owned one FE motor. It had a 5-speed behind it, and was in something with a GVWR of 19,200 pounds. It made a lot of noise going nowhere!
