Hello folks I wrote this up really quickly so please excuse any spelling mistakes and poor layout. Don't take this post as instillation instructions, this is just something I typed up off the top of my head. So here we go.

Hopefully this can give some light to people wanting to upgrade their whale panthers. I'm going to skim over some supercharger options as well as exhaust header options. If it's made for a Mustang 2V 4.6 it will likely be able to be modded to work on a panther but no guarantee, I'll try and go over as much as I can of what I know.

Centrifugal superchargers:

-ProCharger 99-04 Mustang Supercharger kits (Will need to be modded to fit)

-Paxton Novi 99-04 Mustang Supercharger kits (Will need to be modded to fit)

**I have not personally had experience with ProCharger kits so I am not exactly sure what is entailed in making them fit on a panther platform. However they (like Vortech kits) are designed to be installed on the same engine as panthers use the 4.6 2V so it is surly possible and there are panthers out there with ProChargers and Paxtons equipped. Paxton is under the same roof as Vortech and share a lot of the same designs.**

Vortech v1/v2/v3 99-04 Mustang kits; pretty much all of those year Mustang kits can be made to work on a whale panther (98-11) Some years might need a different mounting bracket because of a timing cover change when Ford switched to PI from the NPI engines. The pulley setup was also a little different

Vortech parts info that will work on a 4.6 2V:

-Vortech CCW v3 straight discharge V2F339-020 (V1/V2 will work, I just used the V3 for an example here)

-Vortech mounting bracket for a GT 01-04 4FL111-031 (NPI engines will need a NPI bracket)

-4FL116-150 (PULLEY FOR VORTECH)

-4FH016-150 (PULLEY FOR VORTECH)

-4FL100-001 (VORTECH BRACKET INSTALL HARDWARE)

-Mafia maf for 80mm (About 360whp max without mafia)

-high flow fuel pump (255lph OR HIGHER RECOMMENDED)

-injectors 39lb OR BIGGER

-Mustang GT fan OR A CUSTOM FAN SETUP *MAKES FOR BETTER ROOM*

-AERO COOLANT OVERFLOW TANK *NEEDED FOR ROOM*

-Intake piping CUSTOM OR ADTR.NET SELLS A KIT WHICH IS PERFECT FIT (SEEN IT IN PERSON)

-4FH130-036 Oil Drain Assembly *THIS IS FOR V1 AND V2 HEAD UNITS*

**There are bolts that you can remove on the back of the head unit so you can rotate the blower volute how you want. Vortech V1 and V2 head units will work fine they are just oil fed with an oil return. You will need to tap the oil pan and install a fitting for the oil return as well as install a oil feed line off the oil filter assembly.**

ADTR who is a site sponsor sells an amazing made to fit kit for panthers. I have seen the kit up close on a local friends car and it's a P-E-R-F-E-C-T fit.
Supercharger Air Flow CFM comparison:

Procharger:
P1 - 1200 CFM
D1 - 1400 CFM
F1A - 1650 CFM

Vortech:
S-Trim - 1000 CFM
Si-Trim - 1150 CFM
SQ-Trim - 1000 CFM
T-Trim - 1200 CFM
Ysi - 1600 CFM

Paxton:
Novi 1200 - 1000 CFM
Novi 1500 - 1200 CFM
Novi 2000 - 1400 CFM
Novi 2200 - 1450 CFM

1000 CFM = 680 supportable HP
1200 CFM = 825 supportable HP
1400 CFM = 925 supportable HP
1600 CFM = 1200 supportable HP

I will try and get some positive displacement supercharger kit information as well that will work with panthers. Just like the centrifugal supercharger kit if it's made for a Mustang 2V 4.6 it will likely be able to be modded to work on a panther but no guarantee.

Positive displacement superchargers:

-Tork Tech Mustang (99-04) kit (NOT A DIRECT FIT WILL NEED SOME MODDING) Tork Tech gives you a few options. There is a "Terminator kit" where it provides what you need to mount and use a M112 Eaton off a 03-04 Cobra onto a 2V 4.6 or you can buy their kits with a blower provided. They also offer a non-intercooled kit, I don't recommend this positive displacement superchargers make a lot of heat and without cooling the charged air you are losing a lot of potential as well as risk of damage is higher. If you buy the "Terminator kit" (which does include an intercooler BTW) it is NOT a complete kit with injectors, fuel pump etc. Obviously if you are going to attempt this on a DBW panther throttle cables won't be needed. So some things you are probably going to need are:

-Intercooler Expansion Tank

-Stock Eaton M112 or aftermarket positive displacement blower unit MADE FOR 03-04 COBRAs

-Lightning threaded IAT sensor

-Ford 03-04 cobra throttle cable

-Ford 03-04 cobra cruise control cable

-Ford 03-04 cable bracket

-90mm Mass air meter

-39lb injectors or higher

-Heat Exchanger

-Intercooler pump

-Intercooler Pump Fittings

These are just some of the things I can think of. This kit has been installed on panther in the past and there are some cars now driving around with this kit installed. However as far as I know no one has installed one of these on a DBW panther.... yet.... wink

-AED Supercharger kit. AED had specifically designed for panthers cars with NPI engines as well as PI all the way up to DBW cars in 2005 then the company went under. They use a Eaton M90 blower unit. These kits have a great fit and finish for an OEM look and provide good power but have small potential due to the small M90 blower unit. The M90 makes a lot of heat and isn't very efficient after about 9Lbs of boost. ***These kits are RARE to find***

-Saleen Series Blowers for 99-04 Mustang (NOT A DIRECT FIT WILL NEED SOME MODDING)

-JOHNNY'S MOTORSPORTS 2.3 Whipple for 4.6 2V (NOT A DIRECT FIT WILL NEED SOME MODDING) This kit is very new, and was developed in Quebec Canada. I've been watching the kit development on his facebook page where he has all kind of photos and videos. Using the 2.3 Whipple is A LOT of blower for a stock 4.6, I'd strongly advise forged internals for a blower this size.

Exhaust Header info:

-For 2003 model years and up:
OBX-R/Maximizer eBay kit

Stainless Works Long tube headers

Kooks headers

BBK Long Tube Headers (96-04 GT)***

***These headers will need a little work to fit without issues. Reroute the O2 bungs to the top of the collectors. This prevents the O2 sensors from hitting the tranny pan, and allowed the O2 sensor harnesses to plug in without extensions. Flatten the 2nd tube down to about 1" thickness in order to clear the steering shaft, and put a smaller dent in #1 tube. If you jack up the engine 1/4" you gain another 1/2" of clearance because of the angle of the steering shaft. The steering shaft is difficult because of the dog leg and offset, it swings a path like a cone and needs a lot of room. Raise the engine 1/4" by jacking the engine up 1/2" and put slotted spacers (welded washers) between the K-member and engine mounts. Now you will have a lot more clearance. With the engine up 1/4" the headers do not hit the frame at all, it will be close on the passenger side though.***

I hope this provides some good information for people on here and I'll add/modify this and I find out more and continue to research and take from my own experiences/experiments.

Can this be "stickied" so it doesn't get lost in this forum over time?

Thank you ! When it comes to centrifugal s/c I'm guessing they are the easier ones to make fit? Can one use a factory water style cooler or is a air to air a better choice. Has any one here pulled the trigger on the adtr kit ?

The centrifugal setups require less work. The pulley setup has to be changed then just bolt the bracket onto the engine and run some intake piping (speaking very generally here).

As for a water intercooler yes it's been done before but requires more parts and work. You need a reservoir, coolant pump, and of course hoses and a heat exchanger.

Sorry for the poor quality on this one:

Found an Allen super charger for a 04 mustang on eBay for a little over a 1000 dollars. Its pass side inlet. My question is can the top plate of the unit be rotated or would a Vic plate need to be sourced. And from the looks of it its all inner cooled? Other question , I have come across like umpteen catrilion Eaton unites from the 04 cobras, can the manifold/charger mount be used or is there an alternative?
Sorry these are for a electric throttle body car.

I know the top plate cannot be just rotated and I can't say for sure if a simple Crown Victoria top place will "drop" in place either. Keep in mind these kits are incredibly rare and the company no longer exists. If anything specific to the kit were to break or become damaged you might not be able to easily repair it.

You can use a Tork Tech kit for a M112 supercharger on a panther it's been done before. As for the Drive-by-wire throttle you would just have to make a custom inlet which is pretty easy. A lot of the import community retro fit M112 Eaton superchargers onto various import V8s and even EFI and V6 Mustang owners.

Being that the 2v 4.6 and 5.4 are using the same head could the vortech bracket also work on a 5.4l? How big of a difference are their between two timing covers. While doing my swap I realized MMR sells a upper intake that bolts on to the 99-04 lightning lower and even allows you to use the original intercooler. So no need for a/w intercooler placed somewhere to the side in the engine bay its already under the intake manifold. Could be an extremely neat setup vortech 2v 5.4l and it just might fit under a stock hood

A vortech kit for a 4.6 would not fit for a 5.4 because of the difference in space between where the bracket bolts onto the head and the alternator. The vortech kit you have to add an additional idler and the spaces for the extra plate between the head and alternator will be different.
