So let me start by saying I have searched this issue on the forms. I found one post that was similar I replaced the transmission position sensor. That seemed to work for some time. Replaced the tranny fluid. Seems to have helped. Fluid does not smell burned. I changed it in July of last year. Now on hills going around 40 mph the trans.ission seems to slip out of gear or shifts out of gear. Used to just be on hills on slow turns up or down. Now just going up. the transmission will run fine when not on. A hill when pulling the dipstick I do not see any metal fragments and liquid is not brown it is still red/pink any ideas? Car has about 76000 miles on it. It was a highway patrol unit here in utah. Any ideas would be wonderful. When on flat ground transmission runs fine and does not have issues and shifts like normal.

Yes it is full. I checked it while it was hot and running.

I have to ask. Are you sure it's not just going in and out of OD?

That I am not sure on. I give it gas in the 40 mph range and it gives a lot of resistance towards moving but no shutter. Then goes in and out of gear. Then it's as if the car gets as second wind and then works just fine. It's really strange.

These transmissions work well but are real picky about the fluid. You must use Mercon V or Mercon LV in your transmission. I believe for the 2006 it is still Mercon V. About the only generic fluid I would trust is Amsoil or Redline. I use Amsoil in my car with no problems. I have also used Mobil 1 Mercon V and Motorcraft Mercon V. Either of the two fluids mentioned are good fluids. Do not mix fluids between manufacturers though unless you have no choice and you are going to change it soon. The reason for this is that the additives are different between different fluids even though they meet the same specification requirements. The specification is for performance and as a result the additives between brands/manufacturers may not be compatible with each other even though the fluid itself meets specification.

MZT is also applied with programming from BOC. j-mod is now done. Final rebuild of transmission done by Gearstar.

First thing I would do is pull the pan and check filter.

Another note, is 05+ uses throttle by wire (TBW), for whatever reason this makes you perceive the tranny is slipping but in reality it is just in 3rd gear unlocked or 2nd gear unlocked. The PCM will then adjust the throttle plate microscopically to get you the best performance for the gear you are in. I will admit embarassment when I first aquired my 07. I thought there was a problem that there wasn't.

So the car is not giving any codes. I ended up Trying to drive in overdrive and not in overdrive. The transmission acted normal when overdrive was off. I am thinking the overdrive band may be faulty. I took it to the stealership to have them look at it. But all issues went away after overdrive was turned off. It was strange even tried driving aggressive. Worked just fine with over drive off. Mercon v is in the car.
