So on my 09 , I'm not super familiar with the vehical speed system, would I be able to just solder In a vss sensor to get the speedo reading? After a reflash would the pcm just ignore the speed input?

You alredy have a VSS (vehicule speed sensor) and the tr3650 has one too so it,s just a matter of splicing two wires.

Either witch way, its as clear as mud. Well I think its settled for me. As it goes the plans is
1. Tork tek and Eaton
2. 05ish five speed
3. Headers and exhaust.

FYI 05ish five speed uses hydraulic clutch setup and has a flange on the back of the tranny rather than a hole for a yoke.

If starting with a 03+ MGM what parts are needed for the manual swap in addition to the following:

1. transmission (most likely tr3650)
2. clutch components (clutch, flywheel, bearings, cabling)
3. Pier's pedal system
4. XCT tuner for installing computer changes to accept new trans

Is any work required to the stock steel driveshaft to allow it to mate to the new transmission?
Does anyone sell the clutch kit as single package?

The impetus for these questions is to generate an average cost sheet for performing the conversion which hopefully be helpful not just for me but also others contemplating the conversion themselves.

So here is a question for those with 5 speeds. Have you guys broken anything yet?

I think I cracked my transmission tailshaft housing. I took my car up to 110 mph and felt a bit of driveline vibration. When I got home I noticed a strong smell of tranny fluid. Next morning I found a small puddle of fluid under the car. Upon closer inspection I couldn't determine the source. There was fluid drops hanging off the crossmember where the tranny mount is but no other visible leaks. What are the chances the housing is cracked somewhere near the tranny mount?

Other than the syncros of the third gear doing stupid burnouts nothing was broken on any of the trans I installed and god know how much abuse it seen behind the 5.4.

One thing I always do is I use new shaft and they are installed by a shop who balance the whole drive shaft .

Fixin to start a TR3650 swap on my '06 LX. Just picked up all the parts today. I got a good used trans, clutch, flywheel, shifter and the correct driveshaft yoke and a mustang pedal assembly all for $475. I plan to make my own pedal assembly using parts off the Mustang setup. Can't wait to get this going. My car already has all the P71 suspension parts on it and a 3.55 gear and some other goodies. The 5-speed should really make it a blast to drive. I'm excited!

5-speed is the most fun I have had in this car. Almost 30 auto-x events so far and still having a blast.
