I'm really getting fed up with this b!tch. It's back to running rich again. There's no black smoke, but gas mileage is awful and it just plain stinks of gas.

I've done a tune up, replaced the map sensor, replaced the choke stat and pulloff, fuel filter, and even had the fuel pressure lowered because it was sky high. It has a newer TPS too, I think.

I saw in another post that someone replaced the fuel pressure regulator. Could this be the problem with mine?

Sounds like it. Would any of this throw a code in the ECM? Maybe an O2 sensor richening it up too much?

I knew I was forgetting something. I replaced the O2 sensor as well.

The fuel line running along the frame likes to rust out under the front and rear door on the drivers and develop pinholes that usually leave the area quite wet. Rubbing your hand along the area while feeling for wetness and smelling it will tell for sure. I am considering running high pressure fuel hose from the fuel filter onward and zip tying it to the brake lines.

How bad is your gas mileage?

no, the fuel pressure regulator didn't trow ANY codes. which was why i replaced everything BUT it to begin with and found that even though there were no codes, it still ran like crap and you could watch the gas guage go down.

How bad is it? Well, it used 27 bucks in THREE days, driving to and from the next town once a day, 20 min away. Did some other driving too, but just around town and not much of it.

Last night it used almost a quarter tank just starting it and driving maybe 5 miles. I really doubt I have a leak. There's never any wet spots where it sits. Also, it seems to me it uses more gas driving SLOWER, than if I drive a little more agressive.

It's also got this other problem. When you go WOT it bogs down and does NOTHING. No revving, no movement, nothing. Then it catches or whatever and hang on! It takes off fast.

On a better note, I drove my Vic a very short distance today. Parked it in the garage of my new place. Oh how I miss that rumble of the exaust. 217k and it just purrs like a kitten when shes warmed up.

Have you checked the TPS?
I checked mine last night, and it was at 1.6, which is way off.

Yea, it idles like that sometimes. I thought the exact same thing too. "This thing idles like its got a big cam!" lol

now that really sounds like the fuel pressure regulator. mine would surge up and down at idle between 500 and 1500 rpms, the gas would disappear driving through town but not so much on the highway, and man i reaked of gas!
also started really hard. only difference was mine didn't have the dead WOT thing.

Yea, I've heard the idle surge a couple different times too. Mine doesn't start hard, especially when it's warm.

My plugs say it's lean. So I'm gonna search for a leak like Epi tells me, if I can't find one I'm guessing it's the FPR. And then, then...if it's not that...DERBY TIME in September!! Muahahahaha
