The coefficient has little to do with thickness. More related to surface roughness, hardness, and grain.

Having one rotor substantially thicker (heavier) than the other is also problematic. Brakes absorb heat (energy), that's their job, and radiate it to the atmosphere. Obviously rotors with different masses will not absorb the same, nor radiate the same. Usually this is not noticeable, but under more severe conditions, the lower mass part will go into fade MUCH sooner.

Command Automotive makes awesome rotors.

I saw an ad in Police Fleet Manager magazine last fall and ordered a set. I cannot warp these bad boys no matter how hard I try.

The guy told me that these will be the last rotors I ever put on that car. (95 CVLX HPP)

The cyrogenic ones or the other ones? How much do they run?

I got an e-mail quote for a full set (4 rotors) of the "SD-1" model for a 1998 CVPI -- quote including shipping was $390.

Joe,

Give Gil Short a shout at [email protected] -- he wanted to know what department you're from and how you found about them. Thanks!

Already done.

Hi Gil:

Just wanted to write to say "hello" and to let you know how pleased I am with the rotors I purchased from you last summer for my 1995 Ford Crown Victoria. So pleased with the rotors that I tell my friends at www.crownvic.net to choose them instead of OEM next time they need brake rotors. I received an email from a new customer of yours who took my advice and is trying your rotors....she asked me to email you. (See below.)

Since I have installed them in the front of my Crown Vic I have achieved the smoothest stops and quicker stop time in normal traffic and highway speeds. Bendix Fleet Metlock MDK series pads and your brake rotors make a great combination! I will never run another rotor other than yours again!

I also own a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria LX w/ Handling Package and a recently acquired a very sharp 1997 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. You can rest assured I'll be contacting you when I need new rotors for those vehicles!

Hope your new year and business is going well.

Looking forward to doing business with you again soon!

My Reybestos Super Stop Sever Duty rotors have not warped yet, so they were are worth the money to me. I got mine from a local parts store. They do not fade nearly as quickly(i have the small crappy pre 98 brakes)and i have not had any significant pad wear(admittedly i do not drive much while i'm at school).

How much did you pay for them.I was thinking of getting them for my Dad's 95 grand marquis.

I made an inquiry to Command Automotive for pricing on a set of rotors for a 99CV and they quoted the same price as Erin paid, but they didn't offer me a discount. The following is their email reply.

Carl,

We usually do not sell to civilians but we do intend to sell to crownvic.net subscribers. The price for the '98 - '02 Crown Vic is $103.12 ea. for the front (107192) and $70.13 ea. for the rear (107111). This price includes shipping. Thanks for your inquiry.

I wonder why Erin rates a 5% discount and I do not?

Probably because they thought I was an LEO when I made the order. When Gil called me to confirm the order, he asked which dept. I was from. I told him I wasn't with any dept. He said he had already charged my credit card and he would "ship the rotors to me anyway." My guess is he thought I was a LEO buying them for a dept., hence the discount.

Erin,

Thanks for the explanation of your transaction with Gil. Now it makes sense. Thanks.

BTW, where did you buy the Bendix Fleet MetLok
pads?

Carl
