Erin,

With those parts, you'll have a good repair! I use the same stuff!

Glad Gil sells to CVN members....kinda strange they won't sell to civilians though.

Good luck!

Erin,

Thanks for the explanation of your transaction with Gil. Now it makes sense. Thanks.

BTW, where did you buy the Bendix Fleet MetLok
pads?

Carl

I bought them from http://www.partsamerica.com/ -- they are a local part chain. Here in Denver they go buy "Checker's Auto Parts."

Just look up the part numbers that I listed (and are on the end of the box). Those parts are for a 1998, by the way.

Best wishes,

Erin.

Erin,

Let us know what you think of the SD-1 rotors when you get them installed. The front rotors on my 99CV are shot and I need to replace them. I am contemplating the SD-1 rotors, but before I shell out all that cash, I would like to hear a success story. Thanks.

Carl

You want a success story?

What was wrong with mine?

Command Automotive makes awesome rotors.

I saw an ad in Police Fleet Manager magazine last fall and ordered a set. I cannot warp these bad boys no matter how hard I try.

The guy told me that these will be the last rotors I ever put on that car. (95 CVLX HPP)

...and the 15" 92-97 CVs had more warping issues than the 16" equipped newer cars.

There is nothing wrong with you recommendation for the SD-1 rotors. Being a native New Englander, I am just naturally a skeptic. I opt for as much information as I can get.

Thank you for your endorsement.

Carl

I gotcha. I was skeptical at first too, as was my mechanic. I think he is going to order a set for his '96 Town Car with pulsating brakes.

The only time my rotors warp is when I take it to the tire shop Dumbasses don't know how to properly torque a wheel... I run Murray's rotors (its a local parts chain store)

Well, I have the new rotors and pads installed. They work well -- no more vibrations. Hopefully the vibrating is a thing of the past, for good!

I now have some slightly used brake pads with less than 20K miles on them (they were replaced in Sept, 2002 at a Ford dealer, so they should be genuine Ford parts). If anyone wants them, they are yours for just the cost of shipping!

I have the used rotors too, but I doubt anyone would want them as at least one of the fronts is warped. They are extremely heavy and would cost a sheeload to ship. But, again, they are yours for the cost of shipping.

PM me.

Erin.

The vibration is because of warped, thin rotors.
