I'm replacing all body mounts on my '01, and based on a number of sources (including P71Interceptor), there appears to be 14 of them referenced A through G with two mounts (upper and lower) each. The Parts Specialist at the dealership came up with 12 - what am I missing?

Upper
1-YW1Z-5400396-CA
2-6W1Z-5400396-A
3-YW1Z-5400396-BA
4-6W1Z-5400396-A
5-6W1Z-5400396-A
6-6W1Z-5400396-A

Lower
1-6W1Z-5C155-AA
2-6W1Z-5C155-AA
3-6W1Z-5C155-AA
5-6W1Z-5C155-AA
6-6W1Z-5C155-AA

With the exception of two upper mounts, all the uppers are the same with all the lowers being the same. Any ideas?

There are 16 actually in total. 2 in the rear of the frame, 2 before axle, 2 on top of axle, 2 after axle, 2 in the center, 4 before front wheels, 2 on rad support.

IMO get the ENS poly bushings and never worry about doing them again.

Have to disagree with POLY body mounts. You will get creaking, cracking sounds, as well as a rock hard noisy ride.

I've never had a creaking poly body mount. I'd question if the bolts are tight enough if you do get noises from it.

Alex.

I have poly mounts in my car. They ride fine.

Thanks for the input! I prefer sticking with the rubber bushings for that "signature ride" so to speak, however, I have looked up the poly bushings and it seems ENS does not have them in their catalog for pre-'03 vehicles. Unless you measure and search I suppose, but that would be a real PITA! Anyone have part numbers handy?

Thanks! Since they come in sets of two, I reckon I would need 8 sets? Are all 16 mounts exactly the same?

Dorman apparently sells a body mount kit (P/N 924-327), which comes with 12 mounts corresponding to the OEM numbers above. I'm trying to figure out why Ford and Dorman excluded 4 mounts and which ones those are. wtf

Hi, guys!
I'm a newcomer. My CrowmVic '93 was thoroughly overhauled by me & now I've stuck with the problem of body mounts. This is really hard-to-get stuff here in Russia, and those sold are twice as much harder than the original old ones. The original softness of the vehicle is lost with such mounts (guys here say and I do beleive them), and I can't even imagine how some drive with poliurethane mounts!!! They must have stone asses!

So, maybe you tell about the softness of the mounts sold by Dorman if some of you have mounted them?
DORMAN 924327 - this appears to be the only variant to replace the original item F2AZ 5400396-C which was discontinued as TASCA wrote me.
I don't expect someone to have durometer but my original mounts are VERY soft. I measured em with rubber specialists - they are 35-40 by Shore Scale! This is very soft rubber & I gonna find something adequate, the old ones are of no use already.

Excuse me if my English is not so readable!

Polyurethane mounts don't feel any different than the rubber ones. My car feels just as soft as it did before. Body mounts don't replace shocks or struts.

I have been on ES body mounts for over 12k mi, and love them. There are two hardness mounts. I went with the softer one (9.4102). I used them in all locations, and shimmed the rear, instead of cutting the pads in the B position to deal with the slight rise in the front. I found a washer manufacturer in Phoenix that all of the centering washers are stock designs and you just give them the OD/ID/thickness and they pump em out. the front washers and the ones above the rear axle are different all others are the same. If you leave the washers out, the mounts still work, but in a high G turn the body can shift slightly. You do not notice it in the turn, but after you come out, which ever direction the turn was the steering wheel will be cocked barley. not enough to disrupt cornering you just see the wheel a few deg off. No clunks no clanks or no pulling. use centering washers and life is good. I do notice a small amount of Polly creak, but nothing like poly suspension. I get nothing but complements on how smooth My CVPI rides, yet is flat in a corner when I'm alone :-).

When pricing the job, I found it was going to cost apx 50.00us each for new OEM, Energy Suspension was 25.00us a pair and SoCalSam offered up a good used set after I was done. LOL Swapping out good used set of OEM mounts is certainly the cheapest and fasted way to go, but in My area there is not much to pick from for spare parts, until I meet Sam that is. The Gray Ghost would not be near the CVPI it is without CVN an Sam's help and generosity. Thanks :-) Mike/EZ

"ES" is an abbreviation for "Energy Suspension," a company that offers polyurethane parts for automotive uses.
Parts made of Poly are impervious to deterioration, and are used to replace factory rubber parts in vehicle suspension systems. Usually, Poly parts are also somewhat stiffer and less squishy than rubber, so they provide greater control, but sometimes a compromise to a factory's soft and smooth ride.
