Would the PI (any year) black trunk panels be a bolt on replacement on an 04 LX?

100% direct replacement, however often times the studs will tend to want to stay on the trunk and unscrew from the panel, rather than the nuts coming off. This is fine.....you just have to remove the stud from the replacement panel in that location.

You might seek out a 2011 LX rear panel. They are hi-gloss black with the chrome strip on the bottom. I have that on my car.

'98 P71s also had a chrome grille and chrome bumper inserts, it wasn't until '99 that they lost the chrome, makes them easy to spot. Not sure why they reverted to the black panel on the '11s, probably cheaper than painting them for the final run of what was by then a mostly fleet-only vehicle.

The reason for this is a lack of availability on the painted panels from their vendor. It is mentioned in the 2011 ordering guide. The "ICE BLUE" color was the first to have issues.
