This isn't my personal vehicle but I spotted this thing at the junkyard and couldn't resist taking a couple pictures. It's an early 80s Mark VI convertible, 302 engine, looks to have been a Bill Blass edition as well. Can't be too many of these left, I've never seen another one. The interior was stripped out but mechanically mostly there save the rear wheels, and the body was in pretty decent shape really.

Too bad it couldn't be saved, I was daydreaming about cruising this thing along the coast while pulling sway bars for my '06 TC. grin

Given that you're from Massachusetts & assuming that the location of this junkyard's in the Bay State; I have to wonder if that Mark VI was one of the ones that Clark & White Lincoln-Mercury in Newton/Boston advertised in the paper & sold back when these beauts were new.

IMHO, that body appears worth saving. Nice find.

BTW & FYI, the Mark VI is also a Panther. While such is considered to be a 'classic' due to its age; this particular sub-forum, titled "The Classics", is for the pre-Panther generation vehicles.

Yeah, when you look at these they appear very similar to the late 70s Mark V (which was intentional, they wanted to keep design continuity because those cars sold so well) but they are on the same chassis as an early 80s Panther. They were built on two different wheelbases: the two door has the shorter 114 in used also on the Crown Vic back then. The 4 doors used the 117 in wheelbase of the Town Car.
