I'm ordering my Pioneer cd player on wednesday. What do i need to install this? This is what I think i need so far but tell me you experiences with install a cd player.
*Din Removal Things
*Wiring Harness Adapter

Anything else I will need?

Scosche (or some other) install kit to modify the DIN style of your Pioneer to fit the massive hole left after you extricate the Ford...

No man read the sig. Thanx for tryin ta help but I gotta box. I don't think i need the kit because the pioneers the same size as my box body's stock radio.

You will not need the removal tools. The radio is held in by four bolts.

To get to them, take off the trim panel by removing the 2 bolts in the picture. You'll need to lower the ash tray. There are also clips, so gently pull the trim back.

All you have to do to mount it is take the brackets off the Ford radio and bolt them to the Pioneer unit.

Definatly get the harness, it will make the wiring a snap.

Some Ford radios I've seen have the mounting brackets riveted on. Especially box-body CV's/GM's I have done in the past. So you will probably need the kit. Also, if you have the six speaker premium sound, you will have to by-pass the factory amp. I'm not sure about the '89's, but the mid-eighties CV's I've done have had the premium sound with the "stop-sign amp." These are not fun to bypass.

Where are you getting your Pioneer from? If you are getting it from Crutchfield, call them to place your order. That way they can tell you everything you will need for the install.
