I put this in my mustang and was very pleased with it. I will get one for the crown vic as well. has everything including gps and rear back up camera.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074NVYTG8/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A17YHR60ETNWLC&psc=1

when I got the cv, it had the stock radio in it with a broken knob that just spun around. Had a sony single din radio I had put in my daughter's car and then she wrecked the car and I took it out.since it was just laying around, got the harness adapter for the cv and I had an install kit with a little package thing under it I modified slightly and installed for now. it is bt, usb, pandora, etc. sounds good so not in a big hurry to get the hizpo.

I noticed low profile 7" Double Din Android 8.1 head units that could work for the older (and newer) crown vics. They are basically the same size as the police AM/FM radio. Priced around $100 but I see them for as low as $10 on ebay. May bite on it. I have garmin GPS but hate where it is. The GPS unit also has BT for phone, but that would be really nice.

I installed the Kenwood DNX575S in my 2003 CV LX. I got it from Crutchfield with a prewired harness. I also purchased and installed a backup camera with parking assist from Amazon.com

Make sure you double-check those pre-wired harnesses. I got one that tries to ground the system using ghost wire. As in, the ground it's supposed to plug into ain't there. Ground socket be empty.

This, of course, was merely the semi-delirious notion of a fever-patient, but I remember that it struck me at the time as being eminently practical and feasible.

The Crutchfield harness worked great for me. But I did solder their harness to the stereo myself, instead of paying $25 for them to crimp them together.

Maybe that is your issue, if you paid them to crimp it, maybe there is a loose connection?

No, the issue was that the black wire for system ground plugged into an empty slot on the Ford harness. That's why I'm saying double check.

Today at the pull a part I found an 07 GM with the factory am/fm cassette/cd player. What will it take to put this in my 05 CVPI? My car currently has a $20 Duel unit from WallyWorld and I don't care for it.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Muley

On the T-Bird, I put the wire on the long alternator bolt when I did the Big3. That bolt screws right into the block.

I ended up piggybacking whenever possible, like on the battery to alternator, I left the factory wire in place and added my new one.

If you have not gotten a kit, look these guys up. The kit was top notch and the military grade battery terminals were really nice. https://ceautoelectricsupply.com/car-audio-products/big-3-upgrade-kits/

I currently have installed:

+ $210 Pioneer DEH-X8800BHS head unit - CD/Media/HD Radio/Hi Volt Line Outs x 3
+ $115 Precision Power 1/2 DIN Parametric 7 band EQ
+ $120 Polk Audio Performance DB572 5x7 2-way speakers for the front doors
+ $210 JL Audio JB6924 6x9 speakers for the rear (enlarging the steel deck a bit so they fit)
+ $199 MTX Thunder 75.4 75W x 4 Channel 800W Amp for the above
+ Rockford Fosgate Punch 1200 Watt (@ 2-Ohm) Class D Monoblock amplifier
+ Sealed Sub Box with two (2) Dayton Audio 12" UM12-22 Ultimax DVC subs

Overkill? Not for me. I don't care about letting the neighborhood know I have a system..(i.e. bottoming out the bass with crap music..lol). I care about WHAT I HEAR INSIDE.

For me, very accurate, tight, punchy bass is a must. You can only get it [to my liking] with a sealed enclosure @ .96-1.10 Vas per side....and punch it does.

Why an EQ with the head unit? For me...simple. It allows for considerably more control. I zero out or choose zero gain for each of the audio controls within the head unit then use the EQ (each of the 7 bands has a small pot above freq control to further adjust which part of that band you want to tweak. It's very precise and takes a bit to setup to your liking.

I added a Sound Ordinance B-8PT powered (120w continuous/250w max) sub-woofer and mounted it in the trunk between the spare tire and back seat.

I have 95- crown vic lx and I am trying to upgrade my audioplayer to a modern one. Previous owner has cutted all the cables coming to the player and I cant find a proper wiring diagram. Can someone help me here, here in Finland we have so few of these cars so nobody really knows anything about crown vics. I put some pictures if someone can figure out how to wire those cables coming from the amp.

You have the premium audio system. The "radio" isn't really a radio, it's more of a control head for the unit in back, where all the radio electronics actually sit, along with the audio amp. The control head and rear unit communicate using a digital protocol, so it's not as easy as hooking up some RCA jacks and getting sound as you can in some other Ford cars.

To bypass it, there is a harness available
http://www.metraonline.com/part/70-5601

You have to run this harness from the back all the way to the front. It brings the antenna lead and speaker wires up to the dash like you would have in a regular car, then you can connect an aftermarket radio as usual.
