Hello all,

A chunk of catalyst came out of one of the tail pipes so I assume one of the catalytic converters is going bad (not sure if it's thrown a code yet since there's already a light on for the thermostat). I think it's the rear left one because that's where the rattle was coming from. Since I'm replacing the cats now, I'm gonna go ahead and opt for high flow. My budget isn't the biggest, so I'm leaning towards bang for buck right now. What are you guys' opinions on the best aftermarket catalytic converter to go after? I've been looking into a replacement from MagnaFlow but I want some opinions on this.

Thanks.

If it was me, on a tight A$$ budget, I would find a P71 in a junk yard and just get the exhaust system from it.

Junk yards cannot sell cats.

I went the cheapest route (Eastern) and it didn't last long, I put the OEM one back on (at 260,000 miles...) and just timed reseting of CEL and doing the readiness testing to get it to pass emissions (being a 2000 I could have 1 not ready monitor).

Currently looking into these ones here: https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Catalyt...tive&sr=1-5
I have the time and tools to cut and weld as well and I'll most likely give these a shot.

The Bosal brand on Rockauto are very nice. They have smooth mandrel bent tubing. Much like the Magnaflow ones. You wouldn't need the more expensive CARB version either. They're like 150 each side. I put a set on mom's taurus before the more stringent rules went into effect here.
