I noticed my car had some issues with sagging when people would ride in the backseat, including one incident at the Jersey shore where she bottomed out so hard that it tripped the fuel cutoff switch. That one was kinda my fault, I did have me and 5 other people in the car at the time (what up bench seats!). Anyway, I decided to swap out the rear springs last weekend to try and alleviate this issue. After I did that, the car feels much quicker, particularly off of launches. Is my brain dumb, or do the stiffer springs actually do something to cause this?

Stiffer springs reduce the amount of ass dragging that the car does and increase traction (up to a point), and the lack of ass dip, nose up action on acceleration is probably why she feels faster.

I noticed this as well when I put cargo springs in my car. It's not actually faster (I timed it, still slow as molasses), it just feels better.

Bingo.
Much to the same way that a car feels faster after doing an upgrade to billet control arms.

Exactly. Its wasting less time and energy compressing the rear suspension, effectively putting the power down to the wheels quicker. Same thing would happen if you put in firmer shocks all the way around.

Sweet! I plan on doing the front springs and shocks in the spring, and having someone do the rear springs and control arms. Gonna actually feel like a car instead of a hovercraft

Do you have the acdelco part numbers by any chance for the rears and the front?

Could you post pictures of how the car sits now?

Hey magic,

Front springs were ACDelco 45H0150, rears were 45H1137. I'll get a picture up in the next day or 2 to show how the car sits, just bear in mind that there's an extra 100 LB or so of subwoofers and amplifiers in the trunk

Hey magic,

Sorry about that! Here's a quick photo I shot yesterday for you:

Looks like this

Again, the rear sits a little bit lower than the front, but my trunk always has about 100 lb of stuff in it, so that's more on me than the springs
