I'm probably over-thinking it. I know if you use RTV where it stays in sunlight, it breaks down in a couple years. I think Home Depot stuff meant for windows will work best, and that comes in white which will brighten up the lenses. They take a lot of color from the surface underneath.

Ordered a big pile of LEDs, including switchbacks, and some Bosch relays to upgrade the headlight harness. The lighting project will happen in spring when I can blow it all apart and work without freezing my butt off.

EDIT: 3M Marine UV-resistant silicone seems to be the way to go.

E-code lights w/ relays, LEDs w/ switchbacks, 15x8 Ansen slots w/ 255/60 BFG's, Kenwood stereo, various hacks.
This, of course, was merely the semi-delirious notion of a fever-patient, but I remember that it struck me at the time as being eminently practical and feasible.

Went out to the sticks to pick up taillight assemblies. It cost me a case of beer and about 2 hours total on the road. Guy I got them from gave me the hardest hit I ever took in a demolition derby back in my first run, so it's always fun to catch up. Looks like I'm doing a 3 to 4 bulb conversion. Any input is appreciated and can go here so I don't threadjack: https://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=4044474&#Post4044474

Pulled all the injectors from the '02 GM. They are getting an ultrasonic cleaning, and I'm going to replace several broken connectors while everything is apart.

I fiddled with the front lights today. Maybe I shouldn't have.

They both did this when I uninstalled them.

The right one did this on the way home.

So a little upset about that.

I also found the source of my noise. It's the right rear wheel bearing. I was planning on changing the fluid in the rear end by the time I got to 100k, so that's not a big deal. I went to NAPA and priced it all out, checked on the axles just in case the bearing's munched it. It seems that the brand that they have is probably Dorman. It's NAPA ProFormer, but that's just rebranded. I'm not really a fan of Dorman, but are their axles any good, or should I source some elsewhere?

Parked the '97 in the garage. Got the wagon out until I can inspect the front end of the '97. Clunks going over bumps seemed worse, but certainly remind me of how things sounded/felt when the ball joints were worn out.

All things considered, its been about 70-80K since those were done, but I've never been the nicest over bumps and other rough surfaces, so its possible its just worn out again. The upper ball joint boots already gave up. I swapped on some generic ones, but they're not amazing for grease retention. The passenger side lower ball joint has a pinhole leak in its boot, so it oozes a good bit too.

What was the noise like? a growl? It seems kind of premature to be having wheel bearings wearing out. Do you have play in that wheel when jacked up?

Drove it, filled it, cursed the aftermarket headlight harness again. That thing is getting a full re-do once it's warm enough to dick with it.

Kind of a humming/growling noise that gets a little louder when I go left/a little quieter when I go right. No play in the wheel, but I can feel it now when I grab the shock and spin it.

Finally put some stainless lines and big brakes on it. Should have photos for y’all later tonight, but I will say I was pleasantly surprised that I could eliminate the spacer the 2013-14 Mustang GT 19” wheels require on our cars.
