Your cars look amazing dropped, cant wait till I get mine done. If I cut half a coil from the front of mine how much will that lower it? Also what should I get for the rear after the half a coil is cut? This is on 17" bullits

Sorry to zombiefy this thread but I figured may as well reuse a relevant thread instead of starting yet another lowering thread. Someone suggested using Moog CC80551 explorer rear springs up front for a 2” drop below the P71 ride height, and CC501 springs in the rear to make that drop level. The free height of those front springs is only 1.5” longer than the KYB Gas-A-Just struts at full compression.

A) does anyone here have any personal experience with this combination? I’ve been combing the internet for anything about it without much luck, as for the ~$150 all 4 springs would cost shipped I’m very tempted to try it out

B) would that kind of a drop be worrisome for me since I’m running a 19x8.5 wheel that sits flush with the front fender profile? I don’t want to invest in stiffer, lower springs only to not be able to use them.

@ClayBelt: I'd be interested in reading where you saw the CC501s and CC80551s recommended. I'm also interested in which shocks provide the best ride for the price once lowered.

They were a recommendation from a guy on Instagram who’s not on here, I asked him about it when I saw it cause I was like woah that’s nice and he said that’s what he used. Also said that with KYB Gas-A-Justs it rode about how a stock P71 did

I lowered mine by 1" along with a ton of suspension upgrades and repairs at the same time.

The springs were custom made by Coil Spring Specialities; the front's are modified D9AZ-5310-W springs, which are 15% stiffer than Ford's stock spec. The rears are F8AZ-5560-HA springs, which are also 15% stiffer than Ford's stock spec. I think the stock spring code for the rear was HAP, not sure on the front, but they were based off CVPI springs. Total cost was a little under $1,000 with international shipping at the time.

They go perfectly with the Bilsteins, ADTR/Eibach front/rear sway bars and 245/45ZR18s.

For those interested, I ordered the Moog springs mentioned earlier in this thread-
CC80551 for front, and CC501 for the rear. Car is a P74 , 2005.
I did not take before measurements due to excitement, I forgot.
I started in the front installing the new springs on new shocks, and much to my dismay, they did not lower the car at all. I put the car on the ground when the front was done, saw no change, so I abandoned the rear spring installation.
I had about a three finger gap on the front fender prior to install, and it's still a three finger gap, just slightly tighter of a fit. I am absolutely shocked because the free height of both springs side by side when not installed was probably 4 or 5 inches in length difference. I figured something would happen.

What a waste of money and time.
