People today use trucks as daily driver luxury vehicles. That said, excess is in demand. Excess sells. Consumers like bigger trucks than they need, more powerful than they need, shinier than they need, with more options that they need. And, they are willing to pay for it.

Case in point: not many low trim utilitarian model trucks on the road. Many are a Lariat, Denali, LTZ, Longhorn, Limited trimmed full size truck.

For the forseeable future, small trucks won't come back to consumer demand, no matter how nice or how cheap in price they are. This will simply be a fleet competitor for the Colorado/Canyon. Local utility locators will love them

Well, Chrysler revived the "Aspen" some time ago...and it was its second flop. The 70's Maverick was a huge POS.

I disagree... it was exactly what it needed to be... a cheap set of bare-bones wheels to compete with the Japanese imports. The Falcon had moved too far upscale and had gotten fancified. So, Ford started over with the Maverick, a no-frills car built to a price, for a "down" economy at the time. Shortly after the Maverick's introduction, the Ford Pinto arrived, and the 1973 OPEC oil crisis struck the US.
The Maverick was pretty much a copy of the original Falcon's bones... it employed the same running gear. The Pinto was a Xerox of Ford's European cars, built cheaply with US standards.

I like it.

I really don't like any new cars anymore. you almost don't drive them anymore because of the reverse camera, lane assist, some of them park themselves, etc. But away from my opinion, I think its pretty cool.

For some reason it reminds me of the Lincoln pickup from a few years ago.

I'd like to see a few basic dimensions... wheelbase, length, overall width, etc.

Somehow, (to me, anyway) it still looks too big. The size of the 1998-2011 Ranger was just right... IMHO, anyway.

Similar thought here, except gussied up f150 popped into mind.

Seems about the same size as the "real" Rangers of 1998-2011... Today's Rangers really ought to be called F-100's...

From somewhere I read that it will offer a 3 (and occasionally 2) cylinder EcoBoost engine... the same one used in several other Ford models...

My advice is to opt for a 4 cylinder... whatever you can get with a four (or more) cylinder engine.
Those three-cylinder "Dragon" engines run raggedy and rougher than a corncob asswipe... can't be good for longevity...
