This is for those like me with mechaical skills at 2/10.
OBD told me that No. 8 was misfiring. Got replacement motorcraft coil DG-508 from Rock Auto for about $35.
When I opened hood, was disappointed to see No. 8 coil tight under what may be a fuel rail. A little searching on this forum said that was no problem as the flexible boot will allow coil to be pulled clear without removing other hardware. And that was true.
All I had to remove were a couple of hoses from the main air intake, and the coil plug, and one other plug that was in the way.
1998 CV once again running like new!
P.S. - I would NOT start this short project without good wobble extension set up for 7 mm socket.
