I'm new here but I've got a 2011 P7B and I would like to know how much HP I can (realistically) get out of my 4.6 while keeping it N/A. P.S my budget is $2000

Need deeper pockets than that to make big power but.. here is a list of some stuff to make the car more fun, not totally “more HP”.

Jmod
Tune
Rear gear change.

For big power..

Boost.
Or do I dare say, nitrous.

Other possibilities:

262ah cams
Ported heads.

Or you can swap in a 5.4 2v for more torque.

with that budget, i'd get a Marty tune, 4.10 gears, and exhaust. Won't be a big jump in power but acceleration will be very noticeably improved imo

Will the 262 cams hinder my low-end performance? How much does it usually cost to have someone install them?

Will a 5.4 need a new wiring harness or are the electronics interchangeable?

Installing cams by a shop can get pretty pricy.. even out of your 2K budget. Considering shop labor charge, and they do everything by the book, it can get expensive super quick if you aren’t doing it yourself.

5.4.. judging by all the research I have done, since I considered it for a minute not long ago.. doesn’t seem too bad. There is multiple members here who have done it.

It bolts up the same to my understanding for a 5.4 2v. The only real hurdle will be the intake manifold situation(I believe there is 3 options) for hood clearance and what not.

A tune will have to be done, or shift points will be all out of spec..

I found a very low mileage 5.4 out of an 03 F150 about 2 months back. Junkyard wanted $400 for the entire engine, just had to pull it myself.

I think when I get my own house and garage, I’m going to revisit the idea again.

I appreciate the input. Is installing cams something a novice can do with the proper instructions? I imagine it's easier considering the cams are up top on the modular.

20-30hp? You wouldn’t even feel a difference. Honestly man, torque is where it’s all at in my opinion.

I have heard that a tune, like a 93 octane.. can bump up some numbers, some not much. Other than the small stuff, throttle body, plenum, which don’t really add up to anything except slightly better response, you’re kinda limited.

This isn’t an LS where 500 bucks can increase numbers with ease.

If it was me, I wouldn’t just do cams. You’d preferably would want to do multiple ‘things’ to get the best bang for your buck. Cams, trickflow heads, full cat back to let that crap breathe better. I mean, and that’s just some of it.. list goes on and on.

You could start with some of the small stuff and go from there. It won’t give you numbers but it will make the car a bit more fun to drive.

JMod, higher gears, tune. Some of the other DBW intake mods.

Just because you are asking it I would be tempted to tell you no but we all have to start at some point .
Usually that cam could be installed as is but preferably degreed and that requires a good amount of fancy tools and experience to do so.

Are those jet performance throttle body any good? And at what do I need to do to avoid a check engine light when swapping my intake parts?

If I get the cams before the headers, will I still get an increase or will I lose power? I don't have a problem doing things out of order just so long as they don't send me in the opposite direction.

Just purchased CHE performance upper/lower trailing arms and installed a spectre throttle body spacer. I still need to reset my ECU so it can adjust for the spacer.

no but you will most likely have one bank fighting the other bank because the cam centerline arent installed strait up.The engine will run but not on top of the game.
Just think if you had a leg shother than the other one by an inch or two . You could still walk and maybe run decently but it would be far from good .( sorry that is the only axample I could think of lol )

Cam do not add power per say but move the powerband higher . You will be making power in the higher rpms where the stock cam didnt have enough duration to fill the cylinder with air . Going with a radical cam profile will kill too much low end torque and the rest of the components and use of the car must match the cam profile.

Is there anything I can do to delete the EGR? Seems counter productive to be sucking so much carbon into the intake...

XE262AH is the most I’d do without affecting low end. EGR, you’ll need to make a block off plate as well as take care of the vacuum lines for it. I snapped off the two plastic ones for the EGR at the rubber booth and melted the plastic shut with a lighter. It’ll take a tune to get rid of the check engine light though

I mean, the TB spacer wouldn't actually be a terrible idea if you used it to mount the nitrous jet behind the TB. Unless that in and of itself is a bad idea, in which case I'll shut up haha
