Brought it home from storage today. I'm taking in the '69 tomorrow, for new ball joints, so depending on how long that takes, will have the LSE in its spot in the garage. 😀

Drove it to work and used it for a lesson in my steering and suspension course.

New exhaust tips for me! Went from resonated 18" long 3.5" outlet chrome plated tips to unresonated 22" long 4" outlet stainless tips. I didn't necessarily want to, but the chrome ones rusted horribly during the winter up here in CT, so I didn't want to have to deal with that in the future. Turns out I *may* have underestimated how much the resonated tips quieted everything down, because it's a fair amount louder now

Learned today, thanks to Davidzq, that my 2010 has a 3.55 rear end, not the 3.27 advised by the previous owner.

(I never bothered to check the tag or decode the VIN prior)

Registered it in RI and brought it down to have it inspected. The guy looked at me like I had 6 heads when I told him I didn't know I needed an appointment for that...it's illegal for shops in MA to make appointments for state inspections, so I was just as dumbfounded as he was!

Good to see the RI registry (I'm from MA and I'll die calling it the RMV, don't care what anyone says) is just as bad as MA. Despite having a bill of sale for the Buick that was written by the executor of the estate and signed as such, as well as a valid, clear title also signed by the executor, it still took explaining to the clerk that no, I can't have the original owner of the vehicle sign the title....he's dead. Once that was cleared up....they still wouldn't register it because they need a letter from the executor stating they are selling it...even though (see above) I have a bill of sale saying that. facepalm

Got my ADTR front sway bar today. Not too sure when I’ll be able to do the rotors, pads, end links and the bar just yet.

To be honest. Missing my dad pretty bad tonight frown Him and I used to talk about cars all the time and now that he’s gone, it’s just me myself and I. Wife doesn’t like any of it. Says it’s a waste of money and time. I find it enjoyable. Keeps me sane for the most part. If I didn’t have car crap to deal with, I think I would lose my mind completely.

As the song, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd plays on the radio this evening, I just wish the man was beside me shooting the breeze.

I got the rear door lock and lever rods installed, made sure everything worked, closed the door and then couldn’t get it open. I ended up reversing the lock rod with the wrong side and had to remove the damn rivets again to fix it all. Overall, just a PITA but I’m very happy to have working rear doors that work the way they’re supposed to.

Got a Road Force Balance today while outta town. $70 bucks. They discovered my front left tire is out of round, and had far too many weights on it. So they moved it to the rear. Also said all 3 tires were not balanced properly but are all in spec now.

I’m not following but he said the out of round tire was at 48? And should be at 30? Whatever that means. He said it’s at 40, which was the best he could do. Whatever all that is.

Road-force balancing is the best kind of voodoo. A really good shop will rotate the tires on the rims (and/or swap tires to different wheels) to match high and low spots to minimize the amount of lead required.

So after driving 200 miles today after the balance.

It’s a whole lot better and I’m really happy. Steering wheel vibrations are still there but not that noticeable, and they come and go. Seem more pronounced when we I get above 80mph speeds. Weird.

Can feel it in my seat a little when only going between 50-65mph. Again, barely noticeable.

Doing my rotors, pads, sway bar crap next week so I’m going to check tie rods again, and other stuff in there.

If you need help installing the rods, I’m in north Jersey and it will take less than 90 minutes. (I also have extra 1/4” rivets — I used 5 on each door)

rant Well, the Rhode Island fun just doesn't stop. After finally getting an appointment a week out from when I tried to get a sticker it failed for window tint. I bought the car with the tint, and while I personally don't like tint and wouldn't get it done myself I also know it can be a b*tch to remove. And honestly, the tint on my car was actually done really well, so I didn't really mind it. It was well within legal limits in MA but apparently (as of 2020) Rhode Island has banned ALL tint. I owned and drove vehicles in MA for nearly 15 years and I thought I had it bad up there...

Hey, Rhode Island, finger

Took it to the drugstore to pick up a prescription. So funny thing is, with the Toronto station that I leave on the radio, it turns to static when I press on the brake. Which is fine unless there's a good song on, like there was when I got into the car.

Also I've never seen that parking lot so packed - like not even 1/3 of that. I think they're doing vaccinations there; it's certainly not for the dog groomer.
