Ford told Pep Boys where to shove it...

Ford sued and claimed that they had rights to the name since they had prior use on Lincolns, Falcons, and Fairmonts; the judge sided with Moe, Manny & Jack since the naming rights lapse after three consecutive years of non-use.

Pep Boy's fate looks uncertain from what I can tell, so this may be a non issue in the coming years.

And the future of the Ford Fusion?

Touché

That said, there is some recent mention of the "Fusion Active" Crossover/SUV/Wagon/Longroof/etc. but whether it's destined for US sales or the European marketplace is uncertain.

The Fusion has been a popular vehicle in Ford's lineup... it doesn't seem like a vehicle they'd want to eliminate... but then again, so was Taurus, Crown Vic, and Thunderbird.

If only they hadn't used E-150 for so many years, that'd be the perfect name.

Well, they're not using that name now! And they didn't mind putting the Mustang name on an SUV.
