I just bought my first crown victoria today. It's a 2007 from West VA, it was a police car (that's not me signing papers on the hood, its the guy I bought it from). It's got 220,000k miles on the engine. It definitely looks like crap but it runs and drives very nice, its been sitting for a year, I showed up with a brand new battery, we put air in the tires, and I drove it home. It drives much nicer than I ever would have though for a car with that mileage and has been sitting for a year.

There's a lot to be said for a rough-looking car that drives well. You don't have to worry about door dings, washing it, or theft. Personally, I'd be out there trying to polish the primer, but I can understand the attraction. Welcome to CVN.

This, of course, was merely the semi-delirious notion of a fever-patient, but I remember that it struck me at the time as being eminently practical and feasible.

I really like the car so I am definitely going to get it painted. I'm not going to go crazy with a 10k paint job but definitely gonna bring this old girl back to life before having some fun with it. It's a 4th car for me so I can take my time with it.

Imgur isn't giving me that option on my posts, it gives me the option to embed a picture though.. Where did you find the links for that? When I click "Share" it just pops up with the direct link.

In the menu under your username, if you click images, I get just my photos, then if I click on a photo it gives me that. I don't ever make posts, I just store photos there.

Hey, congrats on your purchase. The exterior definitely needs some refurbishing. I think it'll look fantastic if you were able to fix it. Good to know that you're satisfied by its driving though.

That won't be too hard to spiffy up. A whole front fascia is only like $135 and you can paint it when you paint the rest.

There's something seductive about the easy driving comfort of a panther.

Hey all, a small update on the crown vic, I have replaced both front and rear bumpers, I ordered a new grille, head lights, tail lights, spoiler (marauder style on eBay), and a shark fin for the roof (to cover the old police antenna base still mounted in there).

Here are a few pictures of how it sits right now, tomorrow I will be towing it to get painted.

Hey all, another update. It took them an eternity to paint the car, and still missed a few spots I wasn't happy with, but overall it does look really good. here are a few shots, I will be getting it on Tuesday and finishing the re-assembly, the bumpers are loosely attached, they aren't fully bolted in place yet so that's why they look weird in the pics.

next will be installing the lowering kit, then I am going to change the seats (I hate the stock ones, plus mine is worn the hell out).

I continue to follow this thread with interest and I’m very happy with the results you produced so far. it’s going to look very good on the outside. I just put down a 2006 panther that needed essentially all of the same exterior work that you are doing. I would’ve had to buy $300 worth of front and rear facias and then strip and repaint all the exterior surfaces. It had just enough spots requiring bodywork to scare me away from doing it that, combined too high mileage to be an attractive resale. It’s good to see someone making the opposite decision.

I am full of bad decisions, lol nah man I like the car, it drives great, no rust, no leaks, it seemed worthy of redemption.. And here are some shots of the lights back in it..

https://imgur.com/a/NcT7KD0

I am trying to source out the grille emblem and trunk emblem. I have discovered the one for the LX style grille is much smaller than the emblem that goes into the P71 honey comb grille and it seems they are discontinued from Ford.

I still gotta button up the bumpers, I just picked the car up today tomorrow I will run by the hardware store and get new christmas tree fasteners for it, the only thing that doesn't work is the A/C, not sure why yet but I will know tomorrow as well and have it fixed, then I can have some fun with it, wheels, seats, exhaust, whatever else I feel like doing with it.

Oh and I also have a painted Marauder style wing for it to install still, just need a little bit of a window that it isn't so brutally hot and humid out, I can't deal with that crap anymore lol.

Regarding the emblems, they are indeed, hard to find. The front more so than the rear. For the rear you can get just about any ford emblem of around the right size, cut the pins off and 3M mount tape the oval to the back. But the front has to be the right size. Junkyards might be your best bet.

The LED rear lights look really good with that color scheme. I presume you've still got the hyperflash. After mounting lEDs to my sport in the rear, I bought the resistor kit and was stunned to find out that those resistors produce and ENORMOUS amount of heat. I mean so hot you'll burn your fingers touching them hot, so hot they'll melt plastic hot, so hot they'll curdle paint hot.

Why has no one else ever mentioned this when talking about LED taillights and the hyperflash?

So after considering what I wanted: fast blinky lights or four toaster ovens wedged behind my plastic tail light housing, I chose the fast blinky lights.
