The upper driver door hinge on my 06 P71 is busted. Is it recommended to replace the pins and bushings or hinge assembly?
I seen a couple threads where folk ran into trouble on pin r&r.I think it would be more time efficient to swap the hinge assembly. Especially if good hinges can be found on JY car.
Any knowledge on if the driver's hinge, esp. upper, is totally unique or interchangeable with some other door?
Going outside to have a better look for myself shortly..

Search for TAI-008. That little tool makes the old hinge pin removal 100 times easier. It is not exactly cheap though.

Find a good donor car with doors that align and close properly. To check the hinges at the yard, grab the door at the bottom and rock up and down. There should be no play. Pick both hinges and replace as a set.

"You can use a front passenger door hinge, just turn it over to use on the drivers side. I fixed a few saggy drivers doors this way. The bottom hinge is easy to replace, just have a helping hand with you. Look in a junk yard and find the correct color. Passenger doors see much less use and make good candidates for parts."

Was that me? Lol seems like something I said back in the day. But yes still holds true. Find the right color passenger side hinge, turn it over and bolt it on, have a beer and enjoy.

Got pristine front passenger door hinges off of a white CV in the junk yard for $10. Fitted them to my door and now it closes like butter, and the rubber detent mechanism is strong enough to hold the door open.
Success.
It was good to use a cam buckle wrapped through the door frame to support it form the top while swapping hinges.

Now I have inoperable power locks and mirrors, door ajar light, and no chime.
I also replaced the abs module at the same time I had it in the shop for hinges. ABS works but warning light is still illuminated with no communication to scan tool...
I'm gonna get wiring diagrams then pull the driver kick panel off to see what I disturbed back there.

Fixed. Aftermarket wiring coming through door from old police install got caught in hinge nut behind kick panel, causing a short to ground when the door lock switch was depressed.
ABS issue is unrelated I got the wrong module.
