I've lurked these forums for over 10 years and only made 1 post, so I guess I'm still a newbie. I just bought my 3rd Crown Victoria, first was an 89 sedan (tree fell on, then sold), second was an 05 P71 (parents own now) and now I just bought an 89 Country Squire wagon on Sunday. I'll add pics at a later point.

The wagon is a bit of a project, the brake caliper locked up on the test drive so I got it for $1700. A previous owner swapped the header panel from an ~85 Marquis and put some longhorns on the front, the header panel is broken so I'll be sourcing a replacement after I get the brakes situated.

I'm excited to get started on the project because I want to use it for a tow vehicle for a ~16 ft RV in the future. I did have to bargain with my wife and promise her that her next vehicle would be electric but I'm happy to have a box Vic again and I absolutely love wagons.

Nice to hear someone trying to fix up another wagon.

Surprised the previous owner managed to jam a Marquis nose onto an LTD, there's a minor front frame horn difference that extends the Marquis up there like ~2-4", unless they shaved the header panel down some to fit, otherwise I think it gives them this funky overbite. laugh

Good luck in finding a replacement header panel, hopefully you can find an undamaged one soon.

Thanks! The header panel fits surprisingly well on the undamaged side, but I'll let you guys be the judge:

Before longhorn removal

Side view (I've removed the decals on the other side already)

Post longhorn removal

Rear view (cracked 3rd brake light and passenger side tail light lense)

I've got some 16" 2006 Towncar wheels that I'm going to swap on. One of the previous owners tried to make it a Lincoln out of a Mercury header and some Lincoln badges, so I've got to sort those out. It's got some cosmetic stuff I'm going to have to replace, dashpad, steering wheel, glove box, I'll be starting on some of that stuff this weekend during clean up. I've been searching for a panther wagon for about a year and I'm happy with the deal I got on this one.

Oh yeah, that header panel has some underbite going on.

No idea who the previous owner thought he was gonna fool putting Lincoln badges on a Ford, but yet, there they are.

Based on the low trim bumper guards and no signs of woodgrain, it looks like a non-Country Squire wagon, just the base level LTD Crown Victoria Wagon.

Sadly I don't have a spare passenger tail light, but I do have a high mount stop light in fair shape if you'd like a replacement. I wound up with a pre-'86 tailgate on my wagon after it got damaged, but I stripped the old gate for all the important bits. Yours if you'd like it.

It does look a little goofy with the front bumper so far back, but a lot better with the horns off.

Living in the south, you've got a good chance of finding a header panel in the boneyard.

Odd, the dash has the LTD Country Squire emblem on it and it looked to be the only original badge on the car from what I could tell. Would the VIN tell me the trim level? I'm not going to be heart broken if it's the base model, it has non-power windows so I knew it was a lower level trim. I just want to know for sure what I have. I don't know a too many of the wagon differences yet.

Edit: If I decoded the VIN right, it is a Base model, thanks for pointing that out for me.

I'd definitely be interested in the high mount light but I don't want to break the forum rules. Since my account doesn't have 20 posts yet, I can't see the classified section, and I don't want to seem like I'm circumventing that.

The VIN will tell you the trim level, but you know it already.

You should have 2FAxP75 or P76 at the start of the VIN. P75 is a CV "S" model wagon (fleet only, super base trim) and P76 is CV base model wagon. P77 would be an LX wagon, P78 is Squire base model, and P79 is a Squire LX. My money's on P76, but P75 is a possibility.

My mom and uncle were arguing over who gets the horns once I removed them lol. I was going to keep them on for a bit just to embarrass my wife when we visit her parent's gated community, but I couldn't work under the hood with them on, the horn plays La Cucaracha to boot.

It's a bit funny that I've never once been to a boneyard that didn't have at least 2-3 donor cars available for these models and as soon as I found this one, neither of my favorite yards have a single one. You're right though, they're pretty plentiful down here for the most part.

Oh, I'll just shoot you a PM tomorrow. I haven't advertised the assembly. I'll get a few photos so you can see the condition.

Nail on the head, it's 2FABP76. I'm glad there are so many knowledgeable people on here. The guy I bought it from was impressed I knew what the header panel was off of and that the Lincoln badges were bogus, he legit thought it was some weird Lincoln even though it's titled as a Crown Victoria. You guys would have blown his mind. The last owner didn't make any modifications other than adding those decals, which is probably a good thing.

Now I've got to replace that dash emblem or it'll bug me too...

The emblem is molded into the dash, so good luck with that! You could cover it up if it really bothers you. The Merc and Lincoln dashboards are different animals altogether.

That's what made me think that it was the only original badge! Seemed like a lot of work to change that and it not match the rest of the Lincoln badges they swapped out.

You might want to either de-badge it altogether or put original CV badging back on. Otherwise you're setting yourself up for a major hassle if/when you get pulled over. If the badges don't match the registration, cops will figure it's a stolen car. Guilty until proven innocent. I had a long roadside session with a less-than-perceptive officer who didn't get the joke here:

No chance of talking yourself out of a ticket when you've shown him that he can't tell the difference between a German luxury car and a Serbian econobox. These days, depending on your pigmentation, you're setting yourself up for a beating, or worse.

That's pretty funny and sad. I plan on removing all exterior badges except for replacement grill and a lone Ford badge on the tailgate, which I already have in my garage.

Today I started the initial clean up of the car, charged the battery, removed the incorrect badges, and removed the "Swaggon" decals. I did run across a couple of hoses that were cut at the passenger side firewall, these are the hoses that run to the heater core correct?

Also, if the Texas tag, longhorns, and La Cucaracha horn weren't enough indication that this is a former Texas car, I found these under the driver seat:
