Long-time Ford product enthusiast. My dad worked in Ford dealer service management as a career, some rubbed off on me. I've driven mostly old Fords over the years. I still have a 1972 Custom 500 Ranch Wagon (ex-USAF) I have three Panther platform cars. (1) 2004 P73 that I bought new in early 2005. (2) 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. (3) 2009 P71. I've been retired for many years, but when I was working I just took the 04 to the local Ford dealer for routine maintenance. That's about all it's ever needed, nothing seems to break. The two cat converters were replaced under warranty due to supplier defect (TB campaign). I replaced the eng. temp. sending unit once. The brakes have been done once in 145K miles, battery has been replaced once. So it's been a pretty good car. I will mention the 06 Merc and the 09 P71 in subsequent posts.

1972 Ford Custom 500 Ranch Wagon, 8 pax. Sold to GSA / US Air Force July 1972, shipped to 62nd Airlift Wing, McChord AFB, Wash. I bought it through GSA auction, circa 1991.

Still learning on how to post pictures.

It doesn't ride or handle like my Panther cars. 351C V-8, when I drive it now, I'm always waiting for it to shift into overdrive.

However, for many years I also had a 1972 Custom 500 sedan with 302 V-8. The wagon has a completely different, heavier feel than the sedan had. Differences in suspension.
