I just joined a few days ago. I picked up a, new to me, 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis about a week ago. I bought it from an 86 Y.O. man who could no longer safely drive out of town. It almost did not happen as he started to cry as I picked it up. I told his daughter that if it was this hard for him we did not have to go through with it. Fortunately for me he wanted to see it go to a good home.
A bit about the car: it is a two owner car with 109K miles on the clock. Nice leather interior that detailed very well. It had not been driven much in the past two years and it was really hesitating until I could get it warmed up. Pretty sure I was burning 18-24 month old fuel. I have run a couple tanks through it treated with Seafoam and some injector cleaner. This past weekend I cleaned the TB and MAF sensor, replaced the plugs and fuel filter, did an oil change, and checked all the fluids and mechanical bits. The car is now performing flawlessly. I have no plans to modify the car I am simply going to drive and preserve it. I was really just looking for an older reliable daily that I could run for several years. Looking forward to learning more about these cars.
